Today, marked a week since I came to this place, and five days since I commenced my training.
And I am happy to say, that except for the big ugly red bruises on my hands, and the huge eye bags under my eyes. I made no progress.
I didn't know when I would actually start the real training. As they said, I had two weeks more before the tournament. And all I did was chop wood.
Bloody woods! No matter how many woods, I chopped, I kept meeting stalks of logs waiting the next day.
I walked fast to the garden, hoping I was done with doing the headmaster's chores.
As usual, he was at his seat.
"Good morning, cheerful, handsome headmaster, it's so nice to see you this bright, beautiful day" I greeted him."You are still chopping wood. Jay girl."
"Uh, come on, please let me do another thing, I preferred clearing that bush."
"You know what I told you, the earlier you start, the better for you."
Groaning loudly, I picked up the ax and began chopping.
It was true, what he said. Every day, I was assigned a large number of logs to chop, but if I didn't get it done before the next day, I will be given double, plus the one I left undone. And I learned that the hard way.
Log after log, chop after chop. I kept going, but so was my frustration and anger. With how much Blue and the others told me about the tournament, I knew it wasn't a wood chopping competition.
And I wasn't going to die, because of someone's obsession with woods.
I dropped the ax and stood with arms crossed and a pouted lip.
"What now Jay?"
"Oh, nothing, nothing at all."
"Then get back to work, stop lazing about."
"No"
"I won't repeat myself again, now get back to work."
I gulped, hesitating for a second, before I shook my head, in a sign of no.
He got up, and made his way towards me. He stood in front of me with raised brows.
"And why is that?"
"Well, because, I'm sure you want me dead. But for your information, I don't want to die.
You said you were going to train me, but all I had been doing is your chores. I am not going to lift that ax anymore. I demand a proper training.
I was told, there are sword fights, and a whole lot of weapon fights. But all I am doing is chopping wood and clearing bushes.
Oh, no, no, no I am done with that. I will tell Meg to get me another trainer because I can see you just want me dead.
I want a training for the tournament, not a training on living in the forest." I shouted taking a mouth full of air.
"Okay"
"Huh!" That is all he had to say? After my long speech.
"I said okay, Jay girl, you want training? You got it."
"Really? I thought you didn't want to?"
"You did not ask."
"You got to be kidding me, I literally begged you, every day."
"Yes, but you did not ask properly"
"Oh my bloody Messiah, if only I could strangle him. When I pleaded with him, I was ignored. But now that I stated what I wanted, he simply agreed.
Just why wasn't I told this, the very first day I started?"
