"What do you mean 'I need your assistance'?" He's joking, right? How can I be of any assistance? I just learned about this out-of-a-book world and I'm one hundred per cent sure this 'quest' won't be a kindergarten's treasure hunt. I'll just be dead weight!

"I'm not sure, yet." I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. "Look, I'm happy to answer all your questions, but can we go somewhere else? The sun is setting, and it'll be dark any time soon."

I checked behind me, where the sun was halfway behind the tops of the trees. The sky was like a palette. Blue, yellow and orange were the primary colours that painted the landscape. The clouds we're nonexistent, making it easier to see nature's beauty everywhere you turned your eyes. It was truly beautiful.

"My parents aren't in town, so at my home, we won't be disturbed by anyone."

Silence prevailed between the two of us on our way towards home. Awkward silence if you ask me, which Chris broke first.

"I'm sorry"

I looked at him confused. "What?"

"When I saw you standing there, I wished it wasn't you. The mystery kid I was here for." He chuckled. "I'm not disappointed, it's just... It would be easier if I didn't know the other person. I don't know the risks of what I'm rushing into. I wanted to do this alone, not put anyone else in danger. I'm sorry for dragging you in this life."

I didn't know how to respond. I turned to face him but his gaze was fixed on the ground. Somehow, I felt bad for him.

"What's your superpower?" I changed the subject, not knowing what else to say. His smile reappearing on his face.

"Glad you asked!" He looked around for a second and then ran on the nearest tree. It was a tall one with small leaves hanging from the branches, making a large shadow underneath perfect for a picnic. I watched him placing his left hand on the trunk of the tree and closing his eyes.

"What are y-" Before I could finish my sentence, I felt a strong wind exactly next to me, blowing my hair on my face. Somehow I could see the path it took, from behind me to my right and then towards Chris. A spiral of air developed around the tree making its way upwards. A few leaves fell from their branches, but seconds before they touched the ground, they flew around us making a small hurricane.

"Wow!" I looked up at Chris who had left his stop in front of the tree, letting the leaves fall down. "D-did, did you do that?"

"Yeah!" he smiled even brighter than before. "Cool right?"

I was walking around the forest trying to clean my mind. The woods made me feel safe, and I seemed to know which path to take every time. I was on my way back home when a figure appeared in an empty space right in front of me.

A man, a lot shorter than me, stood there watching me. I couldn't see his features very clear, but his eyes shimmered a yellow colour behind his dark grey hood.

I took one of my arrows and pointed the bow I had in my hand at him.

"Identify yourself and state your purpose" I shout at him.

With a flick of his hand, my weapon flew five meters away. I took a step behind, startled of the sudden motion.

"I'm not here to hurt you, Christopher"

"How do you know my name?"

"I know a lot of things. Which is why I'm here. I have to deliver a message to you from your mother. Your real mother."

"That's not possible. My mother is on Earth and we can't communicate with other planets."

"Your real parents are not from earth. Their names were Augustus and Mary. They lived here, in Esmond but during the war, everything changed. Their position was on the throne, which made them..."

"The queen and king" The words slipped from my mouth before I could stop them.

"Upon their downfall, your mother used a powerful spell that allowed a certain memory to slip through her to another person. That particular memory is the key to track down a way to stop the queen who is on the throne now and bring justice and fairness back to our land."

"And why are you telling me all this? I won't be able to help you. I'm just a kid."

"You are not just a kid. You are the one who holds the memory and can save us all. Great changes await us in the future. Esmond needs a worthy ruler who will stand tall and face the dangers.

"When I look at you, Christopher, I see a warrior. A person that won't turn his back on anything or anyone. You are brave and strong, like your father. Affectionate and comforting, like your mother. You can do everything you put your mind to because you're you. Everyone in this kingdom depends on you. Everyone believes in you."

A rush ran through me. Emotions, memories of my old and new friends. My family. If I'm the only one who can do this, then I should.

Maybe this is the reason I came here years ago. Waiting and perfecting my powers, so one day I will use them to help someone. Help everyone.

I walked towards my bow and took it in my hand. My gaze turned to the man who was waiting for an answer.

"What should I do?"

It's been two weeks...
(Sorry :| )

That was cheesy. Didn't like it. But I had to upload, so here we are.

It turns out I had a major plot hole, BUT everything is almost fixed.
So, not bad news I guess.

The second part of this chapter is from Chris's POV some days before the basic timeline of the story (just to clarify things)
