There it was. In front of me was standing tall, the big sigh that was hunting my nightmares. The neon-red, flashing letters were visible from miles away.

The Mirror Maze

A strange feeling started unravelling in my stomach, making my hand brush the fabric of my shirt. Memories of that certain night came back to me, the longer I was standing there doing nothing.

A hand waving in front of my face brought me back to reality. As the noise came back to my ears, Scarlett's voice caught my attention.

"What's next?" I turned to face her. She was holding a little notepad where she had listed all the games that were in the fair. She wanted to go to every single one of them. We had just finished playing darts. Needless to say, Marcus won for the 5th year in the row.

Scarlett looked up from her piece of paper and her gaze met mine. The next thing I knew, she was standing in the row of the devil's maze.

"No. Nononono. No. I'm not getting in there ever again!" I turned around to walk away, but a certain male was blocking my way.

"Where do you think you're going?" Chris was holding me by the elbow and when I tried to go he tightened his grip.

"I don't want to go in there" I protested sheepishly, stomping my foot to the ground, like a little kid.

"What if after that, we go and get ice-cream?" His eyes met mine for the second time that day.

Do it!

No

Do it

Why?

Two words: Ice Cream

No

Just go in there for 5 minutes and then get back outside. What could go wrong?

"I can't resist ice-cream" I whispered looking at my feet.

The queue was getting smaller as my stress level was starting to grow. Marcus must have seen my nervous stance so he gave me a side hug and a reassuring smile. Truth to be told, I was feeling better.

After waiting for 10 minutes, which seemed longer to me, we were next. The four of us, plus a group of three adults, entered the gates. Now, there's no coming back.

At first, the path through the mirrors was shown by small neon lights, that were glowing our way. Unfortunately for me, there wasn't enough space to walk next to one of my friends, so I was forced to follow the group alone at the end of the line.

After countless turns, we arrived at the centre of the labyrinth, where we were surrounded by five exits counting the one we just came through. When I, the last person that entered the room, stepped on the slightly elevated platform, all the lights went out, accompanied by a small shriek coming from the other group.

Blue sparkles were the only source of light that was given to help us found our way out. Here comes the hard part. Everyone backed up from the platform and went for the five doors around us. I turned to my left and started to walk towards an opening.

I looked behind me only to see that no one had followed me. Great, I'm alone.

After 5 minutes and a failed attempt to walk through a fake mirror, I found myself having a massive migraine. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. As I opened up my eyes again my vision was blurry, so I tried to hold from the mirrors that surrounded me. I took a last pick at my self in one of them, before I fell on the ground as my legs felt like tiny branches of a weak tree. The last thing I remembered was everything spinning.

Well, I guess that wasn't so surprising...
