A/N: So this one shot is based off of the idea that Luna finds about a bet that Gaston and Matteo made in the first few episodes of Soy Luna season 1. It is set a year after Soy Luna season 3. So Luna is a freshman in college and Matteo is a sophomore. I will be dividing this one shot into two bits because it's too long. Hope you enjoy!!
"Luna, wait please I can explain," Matteo pleaded.
"What, that our whole relationship was because of some stupid bet that you and Gaston made?" Luna screamed. "No Luna, I fell in love with you," he said, hoping she would understand "No, no you're doing it again Matteo, I'm not forgiving you this time." "Every single time there is always some excuse for this stuff Matteo, you got me hard this time. Well played Matteo, well played." she said on the verge of tears. "No Luna I-" Matteo started. "Save it, Matteo, it's okay I understand," Luna said, tears silently falling down her cheeks turning away from the boy she had dated for the past 3 years. She walked towards the door and took every moment to savor Matteo's apartment because it would be the last time she would ever be in it. "Luna, I'm serious, listen to me, do you want to know what happened or not?" Matteo said, silently. Luna turned around and looked at Matteo with the utmost shocked look in the world. She couldn't take being with him anymore, except she did love him. She wanted to fall into his arms and embrace his love. But she knew that was never going to happen any time soon. Her sadness suddenly boiled into anger.
"WHAT IS THERE TO EXPLAIN MATTEO? WAS THIS ALL A JOKE TO YOU?" Luna cried. Matteo was beyond speechless. He had never seen Luna in this state of mind. She was always happy and cheerful. But this time something inside of her had broken and Matteo was the one who broke it. He knew he screwed up big time. But it was only a joke wasn't it? It was the first day at Blake over 4 years ago and she had just lit up his world. But Luna was beyond mad, how dare she learn about this now. He could have told her this a while ago and she could have moved on from the boy. She was going right over to her dorm and having a long talk with Nina. "Well then Chico Fresa, what have you got to say then?" Luna scoffed. "Okay, this bet you talk about was back in 2016, when you had just moved here Mexico. I was still dating Ambar at the time. I had just met you and I was trying to prove to Gaston that I could get any girl I wanted." Matteo confessed. "This doesn't prove anything Matteo," Luna scoffed.
"I was getting to it Luna, I was wrong. I couldn't get any girl I wanted. I had fallen in love with you Luna. The truth is that, I was so jealous that you were so close to Simon and when you started dating him, the jealousy boiled even more. When you started getting close to Michel, every time I tried to talk to you I felt like I wasn't good enough. I fell in love with you the day we met Luna, your clumsiness, the sparkle in your eyes, your determination, I fell in love with everything about you. I'm serious Luna, please, please forgive me." Matteo pleaded hoping that she would understand.
However deep down Matteo knew that she wouldn't. This wasn't the first time in their relationship that Matteo had done something wrong this was the 25th time they argued. Yes, Matteo had been counting. The day that she came into his life. Something inside of him was unlocked. That something was to believe in trust. All the time Matteo Balsano had always learned to keep his guard up, to not be vulnerable. However, when Luna came into his life. He felt like he could act like himself, he felt this huge weight being released from his chest whenever he was with Luna. Something he had never felt with any other girl he had dated.
"Wow, Matteo I've never seen you this vulnerable. I think for now we need to take a break for a while Matteo and you also know that" Luna stated. Luna knew that their relationship wasn't always so perfect in the first place. She and Matteo had broken up and still got back together several times so she knew deep down that their relationship would weave its path but for now, she knew that being apart would just give them time to reflect on themselves.
The second Luna had said that they should break up Matteo's heart shattered into a million pieces. Sure he had dated a lot of girls however something about Luna made him fall in love. He knew that their relationship was always a rocky road, However deep down he knew that he and Luna were destined to be together. But he understood where Luna was coming from."I understand Luna, I guess we need to take a break for some time, sort out our problems separately," Matteo sighed. "I guess so...," Luna said. She felt as though her heart had collapsed into a state that she would never get out of.
Once Luna left, Matteo felt a wave of depression come onto him. Even if Luna didn't know it, he needed her. She was his way of escaping reality. He was lost without Luna, he needed Luna in his life. The dream Matteo was living in had suddenly shattered into a harsh reality, a reality without Luna. He needed to distract himself. He needed something to cope with, something to make him forget about Luna. He wanted to forget about all of the time they had spent together. The laughter, the sobbing over romantic movies, waking up with Luna right next to him, he just wanted to forget it all.
