"Well, isn't this interesting?" She gave a soft smile.

"What do you want?" I spat.

"Don't get so defensive! Just hand over the boy, and you'll be fine," she eyed him, a killing intent plastered on her face.

I pulled Rui closer to me and glared at her. I felt Rui trying to escape my embrace but I persisted, and he leaned against me.

She tilted her nichirin blade and prepared to attack, smirking.

"Well... guess I'll resort to brute force. Tell me when you want to surrender! Or, maybe you'll already be dead,"

Rui flung me over his shoulder and made a run for it, his arm holding my waist while he constructed webs to attack the lady.

"Rui! Let me go!" I squirmed.

"Are you crazy?" He whispered to me as the lady dodged one of his attacks.

"Don't you get it? You can't escape!" She laughed sweetly.

"Rui! I said, let me go! You make a run for it!" I tried to escape his grasp.

She was catching up, and her blade was drawing uncomfortably close.

"Sorry, I have to do this," was the last thing I heard before I felt my body go limp and my world turned into utter darkness.

Rui's POV

I felt her body go limp as I constructed another attack. My eyes were searching for an escape route when I felt her blade slash me, the red staining my clothes. I grimaced.

"Blood Demon Art: Cutting Thread," I whispered. My instincts taking over.

I placed a thread on either side of a tree and fortunately, she fell into my trap.

"Putting up a tough fight, I see. The chase is always more fun than the catch, " she said, hanging upside down from the web she was stuck in.

In only a few seconds, she sliced the threads and freed herself, chuckling softly.

"I already told you, it's useless isn't it? The poison should be kicking in soon," she whispered.

Right as she said that, I felt lightheaded. I stumbled a little, but tried to continue running. I painted heavily and begged my legs to move.

I heard her gentle but menacing footsteps coming towards me as I pulled Saki closer to me. I put her down on the floor and went into a defensive stance.

"Lay one finger on her and you're dead," I warned.

"I'd like to see you try," she mocked.

She drew her blade and ran towards me.

"Butterfly Dance: Caprice!" She chanted, thrusting her blade forward, like she was fencing.

'One, two, three, four...' I counted the number of times she thrusted her blade at me while I dodged. "Five..." her blade cut me deeply.

"Shit," I cussed under my breath. I gripped the wound and grimaced.

"Having fun?" She smiled.

"No, not really," I coughed.

The foreign purple blood splattered onto the damp ground. Dammit, I can barely keep my balance right now.

"Dance of the Centipede: Hundred-Legged Zigzag!" She smirked. "This is the end, have a good time in the afterlife,"

"Goodbye," she whispered into my ear. She was already infront of me in a split second.

My eyes widened.
