~ Groffs POV ~

The doors to Lins room swung open as a space was made for my bed next to his. My tears welled up as I looked at Lin hooked up to machines and tubes. He was asleep but his expression looked full of worry and pain.

After my bed was secured I reached my hand over to carefully encase my fingers in his.

"Please don't leave me Lin." I whispered.

I stayed sitting in my bed holding his hand in mine and examining his face for any signs of consciousness for what seemed like hours before I noticed a small change in his expression. His fingers tensed slightly as he let out a groan.

"Hey, hey Lin, it's me. Don't worry. I'm here." I spoke softly to him as his eyes opened.

"Groff? Oh Groff I was so worried about you." His fatigued body moved slightly to face me as he let out an even louder groan of pain. I clasped both of his hands in mine, telling him to stay still.

I watched as his eyes welled with tears and he scrunched up his face.

"Groff, I don't think I'm going to make it."

These words seemed to have the force to knock down a castle wall.

"No Lin, just stay strong please. I can't live without you."

"No groff, if.. if I die please, please keep living, for me. Live you life, fall in love again, look after Hamilton for me but please always remember me. In the words of Hamilton, Tell my story."

"I would never ever forget you Lin. You are everything to me. But... please try and hold on, just a little longer. Please."

"I love you." These were the last words that left his lips before he slipped into a coma. He was like this for a month. I was finally discharged from hospital went straight to Lins apartment.

~ Pippa's POV ~

After Lin had slumped into his coma, Groff become a shell of what he used to be. All his happiness and joy that he would carry around with him vanished and all he portrayed was misery. The whole cast carried on with Hamilton although it didn't feel the same without Lin or Groff.

I decided to move into Lins house with Groff to make sure he was taking care of himself. Groff would insist on lying in bed all day saying nothing to anybody. I would catch him up at night wandering through the apartment clutching a picture of Lin to his chest. After a week I couldn't take it anymore.

"Jonathan Groff get out of bed." I said storming into Lins bedroom. Groff was hunched in a ball, his bedraggled, unwashed hair messy and big bags under his restless eyes. "I have had news from the hospital at long last and you need to start taking care of yourself."

Groff had slumped into one of the dining chairs ready to hear the news from the hospital. I could tell that he expected the worst.

"The hospital called this morning and told me that Lins state has become stable and the longer he stays in a coma the more likely he has at a chance of survival."

Groffs head sprung up from staring at the ground as a fresh tear rolled down his face. I saw an expression that I hadn't seen from him for a while. Hope.

"You are going to go and get into the shower and change your clothes, and then we are going to sit and have a proper meal. Understand?"

Groff nodded his head slowly and went to leave the room.

"Groff? Come here."

I stumbled my voice breaking as I stood and pulled him into a hug. We stayed like this for a while. Our body's shook from tears. We comforted each other before breaking apart.

"Right, that's enough crying."

I said looking intently at Groffs sad eyes. He stumbled off in the direction of the bathroom grabbing his towel on the way in. He turned and looked at me meaningfully.

"Thank you Pippa."

This was the first time I had heard him speak since we left the hospital.
