It's 1 PM now. I'm almost done unpacking and organizing my things. My parents and my younger brother would reach in about 3 hours. I wanted to go to the airport to pick them up but my mother was really against the idea. "You're a newbie to the city yourself! You'll get lost. We'll manage!" said my mom when I told her that I'd come pick them up.

I've finally arranged everything. I take out my toiletry bag and some comfy sweats and T-shirt and made my way to the shower.

Hot water felt heavenly on my skin it also washed away the tiredness and my earlier grumpy mood from all the travelling and unpacking. I have a million things to think about now - new job, expenses, new city; but I decided to push them from my mind till my parents leave and enjoy the time I have with them.

Ding dong! buzzes the door bell and I run to the door. "They're hereeee!" I squeal in joy. It's been a few months since I saw my parents in person. I open the door and there they are - my little family - surrounded by their not-so-little suitcases. "Beautiful place Ammu!" is the first thing my mom says as she enters the apartment after hugging me with tears in her eyes. She's just so proud and content that her daughter is old enough to have a place of her own in the city of London, the place she wanted  to be in when she was my age. It's such an emotional moment for the both of us.

Once my parents & brother showered and freshened up, we all settle down on the sofas and start chit-chatting about different things. I order some takeout and we spend the rest of the day just lazing around and finally getting the rest we needed.

We are going sightseeing today. I'm really excited to explore the city with my family. We have been to London a couple of times before for vacations but this time it's different because I moved here and I'm not just a tourist anymore. I could practically live here forever if everything goes according to plan. So this time our 'sightseeing' would probably just mean my mom stocking up on all the goods and essentials I need for the next 10 years LOL.

As we walk on the streets of Oxford Street, I feel happier by the passing minute. I'm here in London with my parents and brother for the 100th time but this time it's different, this time it's with my money. "Wow Akira! You're such an adult" I applaud myself. I just turned 24 the past week and I'd have never expected to be where I am today 5 years ago.

"Mommmyyy! You need to have this!" I say as my mom pushes the latest Dior bag away I asked the sales executive to show her. She thinks I spend too much but hey, in my defense, my mom deserves everything.

We spend the rest of the day shopping and walking around the bustling streets of London.
