Depression and sadness can sometimes look alike.
But while it's easier to talk
about what's making you sad,
Depression can be unexplainable.
And will leaves us silent.
Sadness is temporary.
Depression is a cycle.
A cycle of sadness.
Leaving. Then coming back again.
Uh! Scratch that.
It's not even just a sadness that keeps coming back.
You're just blank.
And you can't fuckin feel anymore.
There's something missing inside of you.
And you don't wanna do anything ever again.
Depression is like being dead.
While your body is alive.
Depression is living in a body with a mind that wants to be gone.
It is like drowning,
While you see everyone arounds you breathing.
Sadness is running out of answers.
Depression is running out of questions.
Sadness is an emotion.
Depression is a state of mind.
Sadness is a feeling.
Depression is an painful and fathomless of all feelings.
In the end,
Depression keeps you stuck.
Fun cannot fix it.
Instead,
It isolates you from what you love.
Sadness is a very real and difficult emotion to process.
But Depression is an overwhelming numbness that requires a lot of help. Requires a lot of patience.
Requires a lot of understanding.
Requires a lot of care.
And requires a lot of love.
Both feelings are valid.
But if someone opens up to you about their Depression,
Don't laugh.
Don't put aside.
Dont just shrug.
And don't ever say,
"I've been sad too."
Rather,
Pay attention.
Listen.
