CHAPTER FOUR

He took my hand and said, “I’m sorry Juliette, I really am.” His hands were shaking, His eyes were crystal blue with a tint of coral green... It was beautiful, yet terrifying. I sat up not knowing what just happened, it all seemed to be a blur.

I then get this pain in my chest... AGHH! I screamed, you could probably hear from miles away. What's happening?! Colton! He stares at me and sheds a tear from his eye, “I-I don't know, it's different for some people”…

His brother had a confused look, but he knew what was going on... “It's like she's immune or something... You remember those legends mom and dad told us about the girl who was bitten, but somehow she already had vampire blood running through her?”

“Yeah... Oh God, yes. A lady was bitten thousands of years ago, but the bite didn't kill her, nor did she turn... Because she was like a half-blood or something, we actually call half-bloods, Hybrids. They’re not fully vampire, but not fully human. This lady, she wasn't ordinary... She was different. Many people referred to her as, ‘The One’ but never understood why. Our Coven (Vampire family) has been looking for answers since the tenth century. She's said to have powers like no other vampire, but she didn't receive them until her eighteenth birthday, she was born directly at midnight, so she had to wait until midnight to become powerful,” Colton managed.

His brother added, “She didn't know what was going on though, until after she was bitten; before then, she just thought she was a normal girl.”

They both turned to me with huge green sparkly eyes. I looked back at them and said, my birthday is at midnight. “Juliette... It is midnight,” Kyle replied.

As the clock struck twelve, I couldn't breathe, sharp pains were hitting me instantly as if someone was stabbing me repetitively. I screamed and Colton saw my eyes changing to a really light blue. His brother whispered, “Oh shit,” and ran to get something from an old ancient cabinet.

He came back with a large book that read, ‘Hybrids of Our Kind.’ WHAT'S HAPPENING?! My eyes felt like they were about to pop out of my head and they were burning. God did it hurt.

“Kyle! Hurry!” Colton yelled. “Okay, okay here it is… Take a crow feather, a pinch of goblin blood, and an ounce of bat blood.” Kyle firmly replied. Colton put all the items in a plastic tube and mixed it up, he poured it into my mouth, and I fell asleep instantly.

“Hey she's waking up. Juliette?” I heard a familiar voice… Colton… I raised my eyes, although they were still heavy, and gave him a quick smile. “Are you okay?” I nodded. “We should get you home.” I stood up, but fell, so he picked me up and carried me all the way home.
