grayson's point of view
we walked slowly hand-in-hand through the meadow, the grass reaching up to my knees. however, for y/n, it reached a little past her knees, since she was shorter than me.

every now and then we shared small glances, smiling as we did so.

i came to a stop beside a tiny patch of wildflowers, picking on of them and handing it to y/n. she smiled, her eyes bright as she twisted the stem of the flower between her fingertips.

"it's beautiful, my love." she whispered. her eyes lifted to meet mine. i took my free hand, brushing a few stray hairs behind her ear.

"honey," i mumbled. her eyes fluttered shut for a moment, her skin soaking up the sun. when she opened them again, her eyes seemed to shine only brighter in the soft sunlight of the fall evening.

"sweetheart," i started. "you have no idea how much you mean to me, angel. every day, no, every second that i spend with you only seems to make me fall deeper in love with you." i paused, reaching into the pocket of my blue jeans to bring out a ring box.

a sudden breeze blew my white button-up shirt softly, taking y/n's beautiful sundress with it.

i opened the box, slowly revealing a ring, several tiny diamonds engraved in the band. y/n gasped quietly, her fingers finding the back of my neck, holding me close.

"this was my grandmother's," i whispered, my eyes watching y/n's reactions closely. "and now," i slowly brought it out of the box. "it's yours."

i slipped the ring onto her left ring finger; it fit perfectly. the diamonds reflected the sunlight, shimmering brightly. my hand held her's, my grip soft yet tight.

"y/n l/n, this is a promise ring. with this, i promise to love you for the rest of my life. i promise to always be by your side. i promise to marry you one day, and i promise to love you, and if we ever have any, i promise to love our beautiful children."

her eyes had overflowed with tears, soft chuckles and sobs left her pillowy lips that i adored so much.

"i promise to one day replace this ring, with one much better, with one that captures my love for you with no words."

i stuffed the box back in my pocket, slowly moving my hands to grip her waist. our lips collided in the most beautiful way.

"and when that day comes," she paused to leave a small kiss on my jaw,"i promise to say 'yes'."
