Let's get dirty now. Shall we?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As much as I hate to admit it, brute or not, he saved me tonight, and if Grandma were here, she would make him tea and feed him for the rest of her life and would die thinking that was never enough to show her gratitude... I wish I still had her overwhelming kindness around me.
My eyes peel open, this time not blinded by the morning light but catching flickers behind my eyelids. The fire's still burning.
I take a moment to stare at the flames before my eyes shift to the window, the soft grey light peeking through, dawn is breaking.
I hear a low snore rumble next to me, but I don't feel anyone beside me. I then realize the snores coming from the floor. I carefully shift myself and peek over the side of my bed to find Thorfinn curled up on the floor a few feet away from the bed, wrapped in an old sheet he must've found last night, his back facing me. He had to have fallen asleep recently, since the fire is burning bright with enough wood in it to keep burning for another couple of hours.
Why is he down there? Didn't he want to sleep with me? I catch myself and blush. I mean... he could've stayed with me. I just don't know why he wouldn't take the opportunity? Wait, the opportunity for what?!
I cringe at myself and bite down on my lip hard. Ridiculous feelings aside, I can't accept the fact that he's sleeping on the floor after helping me last night. I make the decision to gently wake him up and ask him to sleep in the bed. I slowly slip out from my covers, placing one foot on the floor at a time, and reach out towards him. "T-Thorfinn?"
Suddenly Thorfinn springs up, grabs my arms and sweeps my feet from underneath me causing me to tumble over, simultaneously he pushes himself up and barrel rolls. Within seconds I'm winded on the floor, with Thorfinn straddling me one hand pinning my arms to the ground, and the other holding a dagger to my throat. His mouth is open, growling at me, eyes full of murderous rage, as he has me pinned down ready to end my life. I gasp for air frozen underneath him "T-Thorfinn-Thorfinn stop it's me!" Not even a second later and his entire demeanour changes, his eyes widen and he throws his dagger across the room.
"Why did you do that?! I could have killed you! I could have cut your throat and killed you fast!" The words are spilling out of his mouth loudly and clumsily. I want to grab him and calm him down but my arms are still pinned to the ground. He's right, I should've known better than to just sneak up on him like that. I would've reacted the same. It's what we soldiers are trained for, our innate survival instincts are what has kept us alive all this time. It's what gave me the advantage I had last night. I don't know why I thought sneaking up on a viking would be any different. I'm a fool!
I muster what little breath I have left, "I know! I'm sorry! I just- I'm sorry I didn't want you to sleep on the floor after last night and I didn't think-"
"No! You did not think! And you could've been killed by me!" He snaps back. I can't argue with him. I didn't think and it would've cost me my life. "I'm sorry... Thorfinn." I mutter quietly.
He stares down at me intensely, angrily. We both stare at each other and I can feel his breath slow down as every moment passes.
He still has me pinned down, the adrenaline still coursing through me has me on edge. I am too physically overpowered to do anything, but I don't want him to release me.
The energy between us begins to shift and I feel myself getting more and more turned on by Thorfinn's grip on me. I squirm a little underneath him and his eyes flicker down, first to my chest then lower... I feel him squirm in response.
