chapter one

nina salazar roberts. there was one word to define her. tiny. completely small. not only short, but everything about her is so tiny! her arms, legs, even her nose. rumor has it, nina has an eating disorder. i mean, i wouldn't be surprised, the girl is too skinny for her own good. i never saw her eat lunch last year, mostly laughing instead of eating. but i mean, i could be wrong. that's just what tate's saying, and i've learned not to listen to what she says.

"oh please, nina, we all know that you wouldn't actually go a party." kourtney giggles. nina scoffed, "yeah, yeah. i mean, do you really need an invite to go to an ej caswell party. i'm sure he wouldn't mind if i went."

"why don't you ask him?" seb pointed towards the raven haired boy walking down the hallways of east high. just last week ej had commented on her instagram post. ej looked at nina and made his way to her.

nina leaned up against her locker as ej hovered over her, "hey nina..."

she smiled flirtatiously, "hi ej!"

kourtney gagged and looked away.

they whispered to each other while ninas friends made fun of them.

"so i'll see you there?" ej asked. nina nodded, "for sure."

ej walked away back to his friends when nina squealed.

"haha! did you see that? he likes me. he told me i was a tease!"

kourtney sighed, "girl, i don't think tease is a good thing."

"point is, i got us invited to a party tonight. ej said he's excited to see me there. he even said he'll drive me there." nina smiled. seb mumbled, "heteros...."

nina slapped sebs arm and walked off to class.

"don't tell me about my cousin talking dirty to my best friend! nasty!" ashlyn complained in the lunch room. big red snickered as nina twirled her hair around as she sat with ej and his stupid little group. tate white, classic hbic. ricky bowen, boyfriend of the hbic, normal white boy. alyssa grey, does not have a boyfriend. which is kinda shocking, shes one of the prettiest girls in the school. i've never actually seen her with a boyfriend. gina porter. once dated ej, but i guess that's history. carlos rodriguez, once hooked up with seb at a football game, pretends it didn't happen.

nina searched her closet for what to wear. her first ej caswell party. she settled on a red stripped shirt with some overalls. was it kourtney approved? probably no. but was it teen vogue approved? maybe in 2011. my point is, nina liked it.

nina was all ready for the party, all that was left to do was get a ride from ej, like he said.

oh god, of all people ricky bowen? he has 'feminist' in his bio but called a freshman a whore last year.

twenty minutes later, at 9:42, a bright orange car pulled up to nina's house. ricky rolled his eyes windows down and waited for nina to open the front door. a couple seconds later the front door opened and revealed nina arguing with her moms. nina slammed the door and walked out and opened the car door.

"hey, sorry you had to see that. thanks for the ride." she smiled softly.

ricky shrugged, "it's all good. alright, let's go."

"is that the party?" nina referenced to the house down the street with flashing led lights coming from the windows.

ricky sighed, "yeah, tate kinda forced everyone to let her plan the party,"

"it's cool!"
