Hamilton's POV

Being a treasury secretary comes with its fair share of work. I need to get my plan to assume state debt to get into congress, although I'm up against Thomas Jefferson, I hate that guy. I do feel bad, however, as I rarely see my family. I hear my wife, Eliza, teach Phillip french and piano, he changes the melody every time, always changing the line. Eliza tells the children about their aunt, Angelica who now lives in London with her husband, Mr. John Church. I miss her dearly. We were so close. In fact, for a while, a lot of people thought there was something going on. I mean there's no doubt about Angelica's beauty and intelligence. She is also very involved with politics so I can write her about my views. I write her every day and today I received a letter from her which said;

"My dearest Alexander,

You must get through to Jefferson, sit down with him, and compromise - don't stop until you agree. Your favourite older sister, Angelica, reminds you; there's someone in your corner all the way across the sea.

In a letter I received from you two weeks ago I noticed a comma in the middle of a phrase. Did you intend this? One stroke and you've consumed my waking days it says 'my dearest Angelica' with a comma after dearest. You've written 'My dearest, Angelica'.

Anyway, all this to say; I'm coming home this summer at my sister's invitation, I'll be there with your family if you make your way upstate. I know you're very busy, I know your work is important, but I'm crossing the ocean and I just can't wait! You won't be an ocean away, you will only be a moment away.'

I completely forgot I was
supposed to go away for the summer with them. I, unfortunately, will not be able to because of the amount of work I have to do for Washington. Eliza and Angelica will surely be devastated. But I'm sure they will understand and have fun with the children without me. I hate to admit it, but I intentionally placed the comma there. Angelica is smart to pick up on that. It is true that I did in fact take a liking to Angelica at one point, and she felt the same for me but there were plenty of complications. I will miss seeing her this summer, and my dear wife, Eliza who I love with my whole heart. I'll miss her and our children the most, but I've still longed for Angelica.

She won't be an ocean away. She will only be a moment away.

My dearest Angelica.
