Izuku's POV
My arms felt numb and stiff. My fingertips felt like they were burning. I looked at my hands. The tips of my fingers were tinted blue.
"What quirk did you give me anyways?" I asked. I still didn't understand how giving someone a quirk was possible, since quirks are genetic, but something was clearly happening.
" This quirk allows you to shoot tranquilizer filled barbs from your fingers. It's a basic quirk, but if you train it it can be powerful." The man explained, adjusting his odd looking goggles. He pointed to a small foam figure leaning against the wall. "See that foam in the corner? Shoot it."
I held up two of my fingers like a gun. "Like this?" The doctor nodded. I carefully aimed at the foam. "How do I tri-!" Two thick, black barbs, about four inches long, shot from my fingertips and lodged themselves in the wall. I stared at them in glee.
A rush of euphoria swept through my body. I had a working quirk! After so many years of being told I was worthless, I could finally change that. Kacchan, My classmates, My teachers, even All might, were wrong. I was useful to somebody, and that was the league.
Shigaraki and Uraraka were standing in the doorway. I bounced over to them.
"What now?!" I exclaimed. Uraraka gave me a high five.
"That was really cool Deku! I wonder what else your quirk can do!" I felt my face heat up.
"Th-thanks..." I stuttered. I was distracted by a sudden movement to my right.Shigaraki placed the hand back on his face.
"You two are so excitable sometimes. It disgusts me." He snarled. Uraraka rolled her eyes.
"You recruited us, so you can't complain." She said slowly, as if explaining something to a small child. "Besides, we're your only chance to infiltrate U.A, so might not want to lose us."
Shigaraki yanked the door open. "Sometimes it sounds like you're trying to get disintegrated." He gestured vaguely at Kurogiri. "Warp us out." Purple mist formed into a swirling portal. Shigaraki and Uraraka went through and pulled me in after them, warping the four of us back into the dimly lit bar.
"Now that you got a quirk, you better give us some good information." Shigaraki said, leaning back on the counter.
"The exam is in three months. Besides, you're lucky enough we have time to come the the meetings." She commented.
"Yeah, Between homework, training, and crime, both of us are really busy." I added, scuffing my foot against the floor.
"Then quit robbing stores, you dimwits. It's not that hard." Kurogiri spoke for the first time in ages.
"Their robberies are partially funding the Nomus, Tomura Shigaraki." Shigaraki scratched at his neck. A smirk crossed Uraraka's face
"Take that, Crusty."She whispered. I fumbled for my phone, snickering.
"What time is it anyways?" Uraraka asked, peering over my shoulder. I shivered, feeling her breath hit the back of my neck.
"Uh...10-10:27!" I said shakily. A barb shot out of my fingertip and through the floor. Uraraka jumped backwards.
"Woah! Why'd you do that?! She exclaimed, examining the hole in the board. It had landed right where her foot had been.
"Sorry, I'm just not used to this quirk yet." I said nervously. She nodded.
Ochako's POV
"It's time you two to leave. Its late." Kurogiri said loudly, grabbing our attention. We grabbed our backpacks and headed for the door.
"Next week, right?" Deku called, reaching for the doorknob.
"Yes, now scram."Shigaraki called back. I let out a small giggle. The door slammed behind us as we entered the dark alley.
"So how are you going to tell your parents?" I asked. Deku sent me a weird look.
"Tell her what?" He said, confused.
"I dunno, maybe that you have a quirk?" I said sarcastically.
He scratched at his head. "I didn't think about that. She'll be happy, I guess." I shrugged.
"Cool. Do you wanna head to the beach?"
"At 10:30? Why?" He asked, checking his phone nervously. I carefully weaved through the neon-lit crowd.
"Well now that you've got a quirk, I was thinking we could train." I explained, tapping my hands together. He nodded slowly.
"What about our parents? Don't you have a curfew?" He tilted his head at me. I smiled at him.
"Of course I do! But my parents come home once a week, if they're lucky." I said proudly. His eyes widened.
"They don't even get suspicious?" I shook my head. He looked up at the bright neon signs. "Lucky..."
I tilted my head at him. "Are your parents strict? 'Cause if they are I don't want you getting in trouble-" He cut me off.
"No it's just my mom's kind of a worry wart when it comes to me, since I've been quirkless all my life." I let out a sigh of relief.
"Okay... then just tell her you're staying at my house. Then she won't worry!" The sights and sounds of the city faded as we headed closer to the beach. The smell of salt filled my nose as the waves crashed before us, spraying us with cold mist. I gently tapped pieces of trash, causing them to float. This area of the beach was lined with trash, large trash for that matter. A filing cabinet, a huge tire, even a fridge. I spotted a small, faded, dart board ontop of a pile of garbage.
"Hey Deku! Come look at this-" I turned to see he wasn't standing behind me anymore, but rather by the water, staring out at the waves. "Deku?" He tore his gaze away from the sea.
"Yeah?" I held up the dart board triumphantly.
"Look what I found! You can use it to train if you want!" I called, tossing it to him like a frisbee. It flew over his head and hit a skeletal looking man in the back.. Deku went over to get it. I could tell he was speaking to the man, but I could'nt hear him. I edged closer to them.
"-ut that, my friend threw it and-" He stopped talking the second the man turned to face him. "Oh it's you." The man gave him a small smile, ignoring what Midoriya had said.
"Its all right m'boy. Just tell your friend to be more careful when they throw things." Deku stared at him coldly.
"Sure thing, symbol of peace." He snarled.
