The night fell over Alola with a quick hush. Well... not for everyone. Paul shifted as a dark aura circled him. He was struggling to sleep peacefully as a nightmare stirred.

"You'll never be able to achieve your goals. I'll always stand in the way."

Paul grabbed his head as he rolled onto his side and curled into a ball. Pain roared to life in his head.

"This is your chance. Take the right side."

"No..." He whimpered as he tossed to his other side. He tensed.

"We can save the world! We'll be able to save it from those monsters called friends. We can do this together! Just accept fate!"

Paul tossed over again. The blankets twisted around him as he struggled to relax.

"This is our chance! Just join me!"

"No!"

Paul snapped awake. His head was throbbing and he was drenched in sweat. His blankets were practically strangling him. He shuddered at the sight of the scene. He untangled himself and went into the bathroom. He washed his face with the cold water and stared at himself. He looked like a disaster had hit him. He went back into his room and looked at the clock. 3:50. Lovely. He was hoping Max was asleep. He went over to his bed and paused. Was it worth falling back to sleep? He would love that answer. A knock at his door spooked him as he grabbed for his pokemon that weren't there. Max poked his head in, bringing his fears up.

"You good? I heard noises in here. I thought everyone was asleep." Paul rubbed his eyes.

"I was just going to the bathroom. You scared the living daylights outta me, Max." Max huffed as he slipped in and went over.

"Did I also scare the sleep outta you?" Paul looked away as he grasped his blankets and adjusted them.

"No-" He was cut off by Max grabbing his arm. Pain roared through as he held a scream down. He simply grunted lightly. "Hey..."

"What happened?" Max looked at him. Paul looked away from the younger boy. Defeat filled his head.

"I'm going to bed. Leave me alone." Max huffed as he went to the door. Before he left, he spoke.

"You can't get help when you hide behind the pain, Paul." Paul froze as he turned to the door. Max was gone with a note there. He didn't go over to it. He knew what it would say. And he wasn't planning to look at it. He went back to sleep and instantly the nightmare consumed him again.

~!*!~

Paul walked through the streets of Alola as the others were planning. He wanted fresh air despite him being sleep deprived. He drifted off as he walked near the harbor. He thought about his goals now that he was here. Those thoughts didn't last.

"Hello... Paul."

Paul opened his mouth when his vision went black.

~!*!~

"Tur!"

Paul groaned as he sat up and rubbed his head. His head was throbbing heavily as he looked around. He was in a small alleyway with a small medkit open beside him. Whoever had helped him obviously left. He reached over and touched the small Turtwig's head.

"Audi?" He looked up as a Audino and a Mimikyu appeared by the entrance. He blinked before black spots covered his vision. He was lightly pushed down by Turtwig as the other two went over.

"Did you two..." The Audino nodded proudly as the Mimikyu went back to it's work of healing his wounds. He hummed a "thanks" before falling asleep again.

~!*!~ (Turtwig's view)

"Thanks!" I said with a smile

"No problem! Anything to help!" Mimikyu said as it finished.

"Do you know what attacked him?" Audino asked calmly as it checked his temperature.

"Sadly not. I almost didn't get out of the pokeball."

"It's too bad that we don't really have a pokemon to carry him."

"I'm not sure he would want that. He's been trying to handle it by himself."

"Well, we'll stay until he's stable."

"Thanks!"
