Chapter 28: Between Life and Death

I looked at Karelyn, her face was pale, full of bruises and wounds. Knowing it's my fault, if only I didn't run away that day, none of this would've happened.

"I miss you so much, Karelyn. I think I'll dia. It's been 10 months, when are you planning on waking up? I want you, Karelyn. Please, wake up" I sobbed against her hand

I kisses her bruised lips and went out, only to find Luhan. I looked at him and he sighed

"You know Karelyn is strong. She'll be fine" he smiled and I looked down

"I can't... I can't get over the fact that this is my fault" I sniffed and he patted my back

"You know Karelyn isn't in coma. She's just so close to becoming a comatose person. She's just deeply unconscious" Luhan said

"I know, but I can't help but feel as if I'm loosing her every second. I feel like she's dying" I said

"I read this from a story 'Even though unconscious people cannot be awake, the can still hear everything that goes around them' It made me realize something big" he said as we started heading out to the garden

"And what is that?" I asked. He halted and raised his head, looking at the sky

"That no matter how far or who they are, they will listen" he smiled and continued walking, making me stop

"Oh! Suho called for you! And don't worry! I'm sure Karelyn heard what you said the same way I did!" He shouted from afar and ran somewhere. I thought about it, why would Suho call me? I shrugged and went to where Suho told me. I met the others there

"Why are we in a forest?" I asked

"To find Karelyn's missing organ" D.O said and mh eyes widened as I looked at the forest

"This will take like a month!" I said and they nodded

"For a normal human, it takes 2 months to reach the tree. For Wolferium and Wolves takes a week" Suho said and my jaw dropped

"We'll explain what Wolferium's are later, right now, you need to climb on Baekhyun's back and we will run for it" D.O saod and I nodded. Baekhyun transformed into a wolf and I climbed. I looked back at the rest. Suho and D.O had wolf ears, tails and claws. Suho's eyes were royal blue and D.O's were a yellowish brown. I gulped when Baekhyun started running

1 month later

Me and Baekhyun were so close to the tree. Suho, Lay and D.O were left out. D.O was bitten by a snake, Lay stayed with him and Suho stayed fighting with a tiger that had appeared throughout the way. It's only a matter of hours, suddenly Baekhyun stopped

"What's wr-"

"Grrr~" he growled at nowhere. I looked around, nothing. I looked up, fire. My eyes widened

"Hyung, go ahead without me. One of Bruno's minion's here" Baekhyun said and I ran to the tree. I faced the tree, my pants getting wet because of the water that surrounds it. I had to admit, the sight was beautiful, but a phone call interrupted my thoughts

"Yah! Karelyn is in a state between life and death, where the hell are you?!" Luhan shouted through the phone

"I'm looking for something" I said, panicking

"You're looking for something, when the love of your life is in a state between life and death?!" He shouted

"Look, call Lay and ask him for Karelyn's father" I hung up,nit waiting for his response. I went closer to the tree. As I went closer, the gravity because thicker and harder to walk. I groaned and took the paper out

'On the Tree of Life, you will dig your sight. Finding what's missing, will bring back your light'

Suddenly, there was an earthquake. Something like a pillar, was coming from the water in front of the Tree. It had a hole on the top, holding something. I narrowed my eyes, Karelyn's heart

'You must be the Princess' lover' a deep voice spoke

"I believe someday I will" I said.

'Very well. You passed the test. You can take Princess Karelyn's heart' the voice said

"Test? Heart?" I asked

'Don't tell me you don't know what do I keep?' The voice said

"Honestly, I don't know" I admitted

'The Tree of Life is the keeper of Hearts. All wolves have 2 hearts, they can leave here whichever one. They can come back and get it, but they can't if there's not a good reason. Princess Karelyn left her human heart with me 5 years ago, saying that she had no longer reason to stay with it but she never told me the reason. By the look in her eyes, the reason was because of love. Go, young man, and bring her heart back. She doesn't have much time' the tree said

"But it will take a month to get back" I panicked again

'I'll teleport you and your friends. You came a long way here' He said before I found myself in front of Karelyn's hospital room, with a small gold treasure box in my hands. I entered and found all the memvers in there, looking worried

"I need everyone to leave" I spoke and they all looked at me and nodded, soon left

I walked closer to her and opened the box in my hands. The slowly beating heart became a fast beating one. It slowly lifted up, and stopped on top of Karelyn. I went down, soon going through Karelyn's chest. I heard the slow beeping machine, turn into a normal beep. I smiled in relief, knowing that Karelyn will soon wake up
