Two young people stroll down the sidewalk with their fingers intricately laced and their lips molded in twin, happy curls.

The Honeymoon Stage.

The boy lifts their hands to his mouth and kisses the back of hers. Her eyes flutter, and she swoons just a little bit.

No one can blame her. It takes a lot to be neutral when a cute boy kisses your hand, smiles against your skin, then keeps walking with your fingers securely tucked between his.

He's about a foot taller than her, and you can imagine the kind of hugs he gives. The warm, protecting hugs that can melt even the coldest hearts.

Her hair falls around her shoulders in a pale curtain, hitching up a bit on the thick blue hood attached to her jacket.

They stand beside the crosswalk sign, and the girl hops from foot to foot as they wait for the screen to display the green Person Walking symbol to replace the foreboding Red Hand. He turns to her questioningly.

Cold?

Mm hmm.

Why didn't you say anything?

Then he drops her hand, and steps back to stand behind her. He wraps both of his arms around her, and she laughs, tipping her head up to look at him.

They smile and sway together until the crosswalk sign changes.
