Meet Me Halfway

Gonna pull a TyBoneSteak and say 20 comments and I'll post the next chapter, its hard to stay motivated and continue to post when no ones saying anything. Y'all get upset when I go months without posting but it's because there's no feedback , hope you all enjoy.

When Bria and Adonis returned to their friends nearly 30 minutes later, Sandra and Jay both looked at each other with a weird smile as they were trying to hold their laughs in. Bria looked up at Adonis and shook her head.

"I think they know." Bria mumbled as she walked into the living room.

"Yeah we know you know about you two doing the thing that-" Jay started before being interrupted by his girlfriend.

"We could hear you two from downstairs." Sandra chuckled. "But I mean we get it. You gotta get it in whenever you can and as new parents you two haven't been getting it in as much lately hu?"

"It's been so hard balancing mom life and my sex life and by the time I want to do the thing," Bria mocked Jay as she walked over to where her baby was and kissed her forehead. "I'm exhausted, we're exhausted." She gestured to the two of them.

"You guys want breakfast?" Bria asked.

"Yes please, Just don't burn the eggs this time." Jay teased.

"That was one time! And you still won't let me up." Bria said as she walked into the kitchen.

"Yeah but who burns eggs? They're the easiest thing to make." Jay added trailing behind his friend into the kitchen.

"If you keep complaining about how I cook Jay then why don't you make the eggs." Bria handed Jay an apron that read 'Kiss The Chef'.

"Fine, fine I'll help you cook, what's on the menu today Miss Lady?" Jay chuckled as Bria rummaged through the cabinets for everything she'd need for brunch.

"French Toast, eggs, bacon and fruit salad if Adonis didn't eat up all the grapes."

Adonis walked over to where Sandra was, sitting on the couch, holding her niece in her arms as she watched an old Disney show on Disney+. While Bria was busy around the kitchen with Jay, Adonis needed to talk with her best friend about what really happened between her and her ex.

"You've known Bria for a very long time right?"

"Yeah since freshman year of college at Temple." Sandra confirmed, wiping some drool off with Yara's bib as she held onto her. "Why what's up?"

"She's been getting night terrors a lot more frequently now and I don't know what to do about it. She looks fine right now but I know she has nightmares when she sleeps, she wakes up exhausted or sometimes she wakes up in the middle of the night screaming for help and I don't know what to do. She won't tell me anything, what happened that made her this way?" Adonis tried to explain to her.

Sandra looked up at Adonis as he pleaded for her help and turned to her best friend who was laughing while she was with Jay prepping brunch in the kitchen. She exhales slowly, scratching the back of her head as she tried to come up with the right words to say.

"You're the first person she's dated since her abusive ex, and it's been three almost four years. She's done a few therapy sessions since then but she's never finished them. Her ex, Brian was a fucking psychopath...I don't even know half of what she had been through, I just know what happened towards the end. I found out one day she was being abused when she showed up to class one morning with a face full of makeup and a long sleeved turtle neck in the middle of August. Her eye was visibly swollen and when I tried to talk to her about it she wouldn't even tell me. I knew something was up then but I didn't even know how to handle it myself..."
