I stumbled across the porch and tripped down the stairs. I could hear him close behind. I ran across the yard to the stump where an ax was.
"Jake, please! Stop!" I shouted as he crept closer and closer. Dark circles around his eyes, his skin beginning to discolor, and his irises turned a dead grey color. It was happening. If only he could just hear me, just listen to me! I grabbed the ax and raised it above my head. "JAKE!" He almost could have touched me if he reached his arm out and lunged at me, but I wouldn't let it come to that. My eyes began to water, and my vision blurred. "I'm sorry" I whispered before I swung the ax down with all my might. Jake's body fell to the ground, lifeless, the ax lodged in his skull. I fell to my knees with wide eyes as I saw Kylee on the other side of Jake. A horrified expression across her face, she held her hand to her mouth, suppressing the urge to puke. The green in her face soon faded and was replaced with her eyes growing glossy and tears beading in her lashes. Her hand remained at her mouth as tears rolled down her cheeks, slight muffled yelps and breaths could be heard. I began to sob into my hands. "Why? ...Why!? Why, wHY, WHY, WHY, WHY!!?" I raised my voice as I punched the ground. Each sob entrapped word becoming more and more unclear. What kind of sick reality is this? Who can I blame this on!? None of this should have happened!
