(Thursday, 6:36 a.m.)
I was the first one up. I peered at Jake, who was hugging his pillow with his head hanging off the side of the bed. I pushed him off and onto the floor with a thud. He woke up and looked at me with sleepy annoyance. He managed to crawl back onto the bed and wake up at his own pace, meanwhile, I made my way to the bathroom to change into some fresh clothes. When I came back out, Kylee was sitting on the arm of the couch, dressed, poking Jake's face, trying to get him up and moving.
"Let's flip him off of it," I say grabbing one side of the futon, Kylee grabs the other and we manage to actually flip him off of it. We close up the futon back into a couch and all sit down to see what's on TV. After settling on Spongebob we watch it for maybe three episodes before Jake's parents come out of their room rearing to go. We grab the leftover pizza from the fridge and feast again on its delectable excellence.
"I can't believe you got Lark to come along," Kylee said grabbing hold of all three of her bags. "How did you convince him?" Kylee probed.
"You were standing right there with us Kylee, do you really not understand why he changed his mind? ...you guys are denser than I thought..." he said the last part under his breath.
"I wasn't paying attention I guess, please, explain it to me!" She said cheerfully.
"Alright, I'll tell you" I stopped dead in my tracks and peered with wide eyes back at Jake as he said this. I kept thinking 'please don't, please don't, please don't!!' "I told him that if he didn't come along-" I had no time to think, I dropped my bags on the spot and sprinted at Jake to cover his mouth, to stop him from speaking. Unfortunately, he squirmed away and was able to finish. "-that it'd be just you and me!"
I realized how ridiculous it was of me to act that way just to stop him from explaining something that she probably would have been able to figure out eventually on her own anyway. My face felt hot as Jake laughed at me and Kylee stared at me with what I assume was surprise. Even more embarrassed that I was blushing I turned away from them and picked up my bags to take to the car again.
"L-Lark?" Kylee's voice cracked as she called out to me, I peered back slightly to see that she too was blushing.
We threw our bags into the back of the car then figured out seating arrangements. Seeing as things were now slightly awkward between me and Kylee, Jake sat in between us. She stared out her window, I could see her reflection, her face was bright red. She must have noticed my reflection staring at her through the window because we locked eyes for a moment before I looked at my feet in embarrassment that she had caught me. The car silently began to roam down the road it would travel on for miles.
Not being able to take the silence, Jake's mom tries the radio. All at once a full blast of excruciatingly loud static blared throughout the car.
"Ahhh!", "Uhhh", "MOM!", all of us made some sort of noise showing our pain and discomfort. She quickly turned the knob on the radio counterclockwise, turning the volume down until the static was bearable. She then fussed with the buttons trying her best to find some sort of music. The fidgeting stopped on some barely eligible pop music. Her arm retracted and her shoulders relaxed. As we drove on the lyrics to each song became more and more lost.

Not being able to bear the static a moment longer Jake reached forward and hit the button to turn off the radio. He then proceeded to flip open that armrest thing in the middle, dig to the bottom and pull out a CD. He quickly opened the case, leaned forward once more, and slid it into the appropriate slot before pressing play. That's when a familiar soundtrack began to play, it was all those songs from all those princess movies. Like that one where the mice are making a dress for Cinderella. That happened in one of them, right?
