(Saturday, 6:11 a.m.)

I do have to admit that waking up to a clean house was pretty nice. Maybe it was just because I knew we wouldn't have to do it again or continue on cleaning today. Another thing that I was overwhelmingly thankful for, was that we all had our own beds now! Oh, so very thankful! Jake never ceases his flailing in his sleep. I stared at the ceiling for a moment and just enjoyed the freedom of my own bed. I rolled over and looked at Kylee who was still fast asleep. She appeared so peaceful. I looked over my shoulder at Jake, who had gotten himself into quite an awkward situation. His pillow was about to fall off the edge of his bed, his blanket was tangled around him like some sort of full body straitjacket. He also had somehow managed to completely turn himself around in his bed so that his head was at the foot and his feet up against the headboard.

I sat up as quietly as I could. I pushed the blankets down with my feet. Carefully and swiftly, I turned and stood out of my bed. I tiptoed to the stairs, about to head down when I hear something in the silence.

"Pssssssst! Lark!" Jake whisper yelled at me. I turned to see him struggling to untangle himself. "Wait for me downstairs!" He whispered as his blanket dropped to the floor.

I continued down the stairs and took a left into the bathroom. I brushed my hair (I shook my head like a maniac, then padded down all the loose and strange ends), then splashed some water on my face. I made my way to the front door. I grabbed my coat and shoes from the piling heap of them by the door. I put them on hastily as I hopped through the door. My first breath in the crisp morning air could be seen as if my breath were boiling water. Though it was summer, the morning was really cold, or crisp actually. I made my way slowly across the porch and sat myself down on the top step, one of three. The sun hadn't seemed to even begin to rise yet. Well, I guess it was more of a twilight out, the sky was light, but you could still see the stars.

After a mere moment, I heard the door behind me open. I didn't bother turning around, I knew it would be Jake. Soon enough, he was sat right beside me.

"This trip isn't so bad, right?" Jake asked as he stared out into the trees.

"Yeah, I guess you're right. Thanks for dragging me along Jake." I said turning to him with a soft smile. He seemed rather shocked at my reaction. Probably expected me to still be putting up a fight.

"Of course! Anything for my best friend!" He said cheerfully while standing up and giving me a light tap on the back with his foot. "You coming in?" He asked once he reached the door. "I think I smell pancakes!" He opened the door excitedly.

"I'll be in, in a bit" I listened to the door close behind me a moment after I had finished talking.

What I had meant to be only a moment, turned into quite a while, my nose was starting to turn red along with my cheeks. The breeze blew softly and I shivered. Eventually the door opened a second time. Half expecting it to be Jake again with a plate of hot pancakes to stuff in his face I start to turn around, bracing myself for whatever his mouth full of syrup could say. But when I turned, I saw Kylee standing there. Or rather, walking towards me. She sat down next to me.

"You know, Lark, Jake's dad made us all breakfast. Aren't you going to have any?" She asked as she rubbed her hands together. She sat there, still in her pajamas. An over-sized boy-band T-shirt and thin pants covered in pink hearts. She wore mint green bears on her feet that strange as it may sound, faintly smelled of green apples.

"Uhh, yeah. That is, if there's any left by the time I get in there" I replied with a smile. Kylee's eyes seemed dazzled with the view of the crisp morning. After a moment of staring, I stood and walked over to the railing on the porch. I leaned against it, getting blood to circulate better.
