"Well, of course, it's me." He stated, his temper at the end of the line and anger raising in his tone at every word. You could almost see the smoke flaring out of his nostrils, "Mazikeen, when did she learn how to walk?" He couldn't help but scream at the demon. His mood turned from angry too sad at the sight of his tiny daughter gripping onto the demon tighter, her eyes squeezing shut in fear and loose tears slipping from her eyelids that coated her long lashes.Oh, how all he wanted to do was hold her. Tell her everything was going to be ok, even if she didn't understand him.
Mazikeen sneered at the Devil, feeling the little hands grip her in fright.
"Mazikeen, what is wrong with her?" He whispered, frightened of what she might tell him. "She's... She's afraid of me." The black haired angel reached out, stepping closer slowly.
Mazikeen only started stepping backwards, "you left, Lucifer!" She shouted, "why do you care now?!"
"I care because she is my daughter!" Lucifer couldn't control himself. He was fuming.
Maze turned, hiding the infant from his view. "Yeah. She is your kid, not mine, but you know what? You left her! Not me." She huffed, continuing to slowly step away, slightly bouncing the toddler to comfort her.
He sighed, controlling his anger and frustration for the moment, "this makes no sense, why.. Why is she afraid of me?"
"Well, Lucifer, you were gone. Sure, I was here to protect her, but I can't protect her from everything." Mazikeen explained, trying her hardest now to look upset or emotional as she told him. She was embarrassed at this truth, yes, but she was also sad, regretful. The demon believed herself to not be strong enough, if she were then nothing would ever threaten the little princess in her arms. But something did, which meant she was weak.
He stepped closer once more, hands falling to his sides and into fists. "Mazikeen, please," he gulped, "tell me what happened."
"Your brother happened."
"Amenadiel?" He quizzed, confused.
"No," she spoke lightly, clutching onto Tenebrae like she herself was scared. "Your twin. Michael."
"Michael?" The Devil gasped, glancing at the small child with apprehension.
"Ok, Tenny..." Maze spoke with a grunt, the toddler was certainly getting heavier and took more effort to carry around everyday. She'd begun walking the other day, however, due to the unfortunate disappearance of her 'loving' father, Tenebrae was A LOT clingier. You would think Maze would have a problem with dealing with a child on her own, but she was rather enjoying it.
No matter how scary Maze could be, it had never affected the spawn of Satan, even when she was only a few days old. Tenebrae loved the head demon more and more everyday and the only person who had ever treated the demon with such love and kindness.
