Escaping

Five POV

Anger and anticipation cursed through me, and the silence just made them stronger. I stabbed my knife into the table, making my siblings jump, and glared at my "dad".

"Number Five!" he said, not even looking up from his plate.

"I have a question." I stated, even though I knew he wouldn't give me the answer I wanted.

He glanced up at me and then continued to cut up his steak, "Knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules. No talking during meal times. You are interrupting Herr Carlson."

I dismissed his statement and continued, and pushed my plate across the table and glared at the old man, "I want to time travel."

At this, he looked up from his plate and looked at me, "No." he said, he was also getting annoyed, I could tell, but that wasn't stopping me.

"But I'm ready!" my blood was boiling, "I've been practicing my spacial jumps like you told me!" At this, I jumped over to stand behind Hargreeves, "See!"

He looked up at me, his face was unamused, "A spacial jump is trivial when compared with the unknowns of time travel. One is like sliding along the ice, the other is akin to descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn."

I processed his words in my head, none of which made sense,"I don't understand."

"Hence the reason you are not ready!" he was getting seriously annoyed, but I was already angry.

"I'm not afraid!" I spat.

"Fear isn't the issue, the effects it might have on your body, even your mind are far too unpredictable. Now, I forbid you to talk about it any longer!"

I felt my face getting hotter, my fists were clenched so tight, they were pale white. I locked eyes with Vanya who shook her head slowly, but I didn't acknowledge it and I ran out of the door, the sound of my "dad" calling out my name behind me faded.

I ran down the street and tried to time jump, it was now sunny and everybody with in colourful clothes, "Not ready my ass!" I rejoiced.

I tried again, this time it was snowing and everybody was wrapped up warm. I was over the moon, so I tried again...

Much to my regret.

Ooooo a cliffhanger, but not a cliffhanger if you've watched the series.
It will get better, just thought I'd do this scene first. This is my favourite scene from Season One. Hope you enjoyed 😊
