Serena's POV

So there I was,  just kind of floating on this chill vibe after popping a pill to quiet down the constant buzz of what I like to call 'insignificant emotions'—those little worries and doubts that just don't know when to take a hike.

I was just about ready to bounce out of class, still riding that mellow wave, when Mr. Frank caught me off guard with a check-in that I didn't see coming. "Serena?" he called out, and I'm like, "Yes, sir," trying to keep it cool, but he's got this concerned look on his face that's hard to ignore. "Are you alright? You don't look good?" he asked, and that's when I felt a little thrown, but I played it off with a casual "I am fine, sir," even though.

I could feel my cheeks starting to burn up. And then he drops this bombshell about Asher and Blake keeping tabs on me during class, which totally sends my heart into overdrive but I play it cool, you know?

And just as I'm about to make my grand escape, Asher's there, all concern and apologies, making me feel all warm and fuzzy inside because, let's be honest, who doesn't like to be fussed over?

I'm trying to act all nonchalant, tossing out a playful "Yes, Barbie Doll" to keep things light, and he hits me back with "Angry Bird," which, honestly, just makes my heart do somersaults.

Then Blake, who's this ball of energy, comes bounding over, introducing himself like he's the king of the campus, which is kinda charming in its own right. He's got this whole spiel about how well he knows me, which is news to me, and then he's dangling this job offer from his dad's company like a shiny carrot, and I can't help but be a little flattered and amused all at once.

So I throw out this dramatic response, because why not? I'm feeling a bit like a celebrity at this point, with all this attention and job offers flying at me. But then Blake gets all grabby, trying to pull the 'please, Serena' card with those puppy-dog eyes, and just as I'm about to cave, Asher swoops in and stakes his claim.

I'm not gonna lie, being this close to him, smelling that sea breeze cologne—it's got my head spinning. And then he's all like, "You will not leave me, right? My little Angry Birds," and I swear, my heart's racing like I've just run a marathon. I'm grinning like a fool, promising never to leave my Barbie Doll, and Blake's just standing there looking like he's trying to solve a math problem without a calculator.

Asher's got this arm around me, "We have a special connection, right? Angry bird." Asher said while putting his arm around my shoulder.

"Yep, don't Barbies like birds. Like in the story of Cinderella."

Blake looked at is as we are from another world.

He again shook his head.

"Ok. Then what's with the weird nickname?"

"It suits him"

"It suits her"

I and Asher said at the same time. We looked at each other and we bust out laughing. Then I realized that I didn't felt uneasy, uncomfortable, nervous, or any other nasty feelings.
