She's the coldest when she sleeps
To keep away the endless heat
For the endless flame does not sleep when she is unaware
She sleeps in ice
So as to melt
Before the flames may burn
And from the fire she hides in the mire so full of shattered tears
Although the night does not die
She surely does fry when the
Day chooses to stalk her on her walks
Though never one to cry
She still stands to try to survive his endless flames
But with no fame or name
She
is only to blame
"You look rough," Seran teased as he entered. It was natural, easy off the tongue for him. Seran was a tease in every way possible, and if given the chance would flirt with the devil, had flirted with the devil.
"That's only because someone tried to kill me this morning," Aron growled back. It was foreign, intimidating to hear from him. Normally he was all smiles, always the last to show aggression if ever.
A sigh, closely followed by, "I said I was sorry." Attaeya was oddly guilty sounding.
"Sorry doesn't cut it, you nearly killed me!" Aron stood as his voice raised.
Micha had just entered and saw immediately the uncharacteristic flinch from Attaeya that the others failed to notice. He knew the flinch, and knew better than to say anything. Aware that the small girl had no parents he assumed her siblings were the ones to beat her. He was beat by his parents and knew the embarrassment of being caught flinching when another raised their voice and so kept his voice off.
"I know sorry doesn't cut it! But I am sorry, you scared me. I thought I was about to die too!"
"You were asleep in the water and we're totally still! I forgot you had gills and thought you had drown! I only meant to try and save you! You didn't have to flood the room, Holly!"
"And I had just woken up, rather suddenly too. I didn't mean to hurt you but you scared me. You'd be pretty freaked out too if you woke up being violently shaken!" Attaeya hadn't raised her voice, but her hands were shaking. She had been scared. Never before had someone ripped her from bed and woken her the way the angel had. Holly had seriously believed she'd been in danger when she'd woken up to being treated like a rag doll.
"Mom..what's wrong?" Fae was up now and had come into the kitchen.
"N-nothing. I just..I just got up late and I don't have breakfast ready like I planned. That's all," Attaeya smiled.
Aron sat back down, ignoring the ache in his torso from undoubtedly fractured ribs. It had finally sunk in with him; why it was always stressed to avoid the moon goddess. Awake at least she would actually think, but in it's own way that was scarier. Aron was only now seeing the danger of befriending her though.
Attaeya made breakfast and although everyone saw, no one chose to say anything. Instead all the joining guest smiled and even Aron, who was honestly hurting, laughed.
It wasn't to convince any of the adults, they all saw right through it, but to entertain the young, week old, dracling. Fae didn't notice a thing and bought right into the last breakfast excuse and the child's smile was infections even on such a atmospherically gloomy morning.
