These are actually from dreams I had..
Our parents had just died, the memories are fuzzy, I'm sorry.. It was a bad car crash, somehow we survived but not them.. I don't remember but I think it was Lyle's parents.. Yeah it was. Lyle's parents had left her the cabin up in the woods. Since we were so close and the death of our parents was so traumatic, they let us move up into the cabin. The social workers made sure we knew how to take care of ourselves, they made sure everything worked properly and they made sure we had a land line that worked so we could contact someone if we needed things. They got us enough food to last a month or so and left. It'd been a couple weeks since the accident and we both looked fine. Keyword: looked. Heh, Lyle had the bright idea to throw a party. I didn't really want to, truthfully I've always been antisocial and never was I one for parties. But I thought if it made her feel better I'd let her throw it. Even then I remember questioning the parents of our friends, 'what kind of parent agreed to leave their children completely unsupervised and alone in the woods?' I remember clearly asking Lyle that. She just laughed. The afternoon of the party we had gone out to collect wood, Lyle had wanted to make use of the fire place, and out of the blue Lyle asked me something that even now surprises me a little.
"What would happen if I asked a honeycat for honey?" She had stopped walking and was looking at something. I stopped and looked back at her.
"It will kill you, now come on. I want to get back to the cabin.." I told her, I was still feeling.... Out of it and just wanted to be somewhere quiet and safe again.
"I'll catch up.." She said and waved me off, already walking off the path. I didn't even argue, I now wish I had, but I just turned and went back to the cabin. Lyle on the other hand went over to the honey cat.
"What would happen if I took your honey?" She asked it. The cat looked up at her, momentarily stopping it's consumption of honey.
"I'd kill you, but I'm going to kill you regardless now" it laughed. As soon as she heard it's laugh she dropped the wood and ran back to the cabin. I had left my bundle of wood outside and was cleaning up the kitchen. Even though the back porch was facing the clearing in front of our cabin she ran around the side and came in the front door, right into the kitchen.
"Violet I'm sorry! The honey cats going to kill us! I'm so sorry!" She said as she shut the door behind herself. I could hear the underlying fear in her voice so I only smiled. I was always calm and logical in an emergency situation, it's just how I am.
"It's fine, we'll be fine. It's going to be fine" I reassured her and checked outside. I didn't see the honey cat so I assumed it was a bluff that it told her. My bad. Well things were fine until that night. Lyle helped me clean the cabin up and things were alright. I actually started feeling a little better. Our friends arrived, I'm sorry this part's a little fuzzy... I was already half asleep by then. The only one I remember being there was Alyssa. I made dinner and made sure everyone ate before slipping off into my my room. I showered and went to bed.
~/// Things went well until the honey cat came back. By then it was dark and Violet had disappeared, probably already in bed. I can't understand why she didn't stay up for this party, she loves parties! Oh well, like I was saying. The honey cat came. It scared everyone and they locked the door and turned all the lights off. Like that'd help. The honey cat was clawing at the door, yelling and wanting in. Some hid, others tried to use themselves to barricade the door. I just left the kitchen and went to the living room. Alyssa was already in there so I sat with her on the couch. We sat quietly for a few minutes, the honey cat still making a racket. I don't know how Violet never heard any of it. Alyssa heard a noise on the side of the house.
"Lyle what was that?" She asked me.
"I don't know, just leave it." I answered. She got up anyways and moved the curtains in front of the sliding glass door before opening it and walking out.
