Mil fingers crumpled the documents in his hands, anger and sadness at this situation engulfing him. He never thought it would end this way, him and Sarawat at opposite sides of the glass, fighting over the band they both loved. But here he was.
Mil sighed, and with a deep breath chucked the entire sheaf of papers into the trash bin.
"I'm not taking the settlement."
His lawyer rolled his eyes and pulled out another envelope from his briefcase, setting it in front of the bassist --- well, ex-bassist now that the company had let him go. "Don't be stupid. It's a pretty generous settlement. You're not going to get nearly the same amount if you brought them to court."
"It's not about the money." Mil mumbled. He ran both his hands over his face and through his hair. Nothing was going right. The record label was supposed to drop the entire band, not just him, and then they could just start a new---
"Then why did you even try to sue CTRL+S and the company in the first place if it wasn't about the money?"
Mil leaned back against the chair and dropped his head forward. "I thought it would work."
His lawyer looked confused. "What do you mean?"
"I thought with a major scandal, the label would drop the band." Mil said quietly, "CTRL+S would sign with a new label, hell, make a new one ourselves, and Sarawat could finally write the music he wanted." The music we both wanted.
"You..." Chat finally said after a few minutes, "...are a fucking idiot."
Mil made a face and tossed the new envelope back at him. "You should've stayed in Architecture."
"Chat's right. You're a fucking idiot."
Mil and Chat both looked up at the new voice and saw Dim looking at them disapprovingly.
Mil stood up in surprise.
"P'Dim?"
---
"Guys!" Air shouted, running into the recording studio, waving her phone in front of her. "Take a look!"
Sarawat took off his headphones and motioned for Earn to get out of the booth. Pear stood up from the couch she was sitting on and placed her guitar on the table.
"What's wrong?" Sarawat asked.
"It's the police station." Air said, taking out a cord from her bag and connecting her phone to Sarawat's laptop. "They sent me some of the evidence they pulled from Pam's phone and laptop. I think you all need to hear this." She selected one of the files and pressed play.
"Pam, no. Absolutely not."
"It'll be fine. Just give me the passcode and I'll leave Sarawat's present in the kitchen."
"You're fucking crazy if you think I'll even agree to this."
"If you don't want Phukong to find out about how you paid me to post that ring on Instagram, you'll do this for me."
"Fuck you. You know why I asked you to post that ring. You said you wanted the band dropped from the label too!"
Pam's laugh sent chills through Sarawat's spine. "You must be stupid to think that was what I really wanted. I wanted Sarawat dropped from the label. The label can keep you and Earn. Sarawat belongs with me."
"No means no, Pam!"
"I'll tell everyone about what you did, Mil, if you don't give me Sarawat's fucking passcode. They'll hate you and you'll get kicked out of the company and the band that you love so fucking much. You'll lose your boyfriend, your band, and your stupid music."
