"this is a date?" jeonghan asks, leaning at the doorway while watching jisoo fill a vacuum flask with coffee that he just made. jisoo proceeds to grab the sweet lollipop that jeonghan kept in the back of his shelves. "wow, so exciting.""and now, the real date starts." jisoo says excitedly, pulling jeonghan to the mirror. why is jeonghan being dragged so much today? "we're going to my world!"
oh yes. much, much, much better than the 'date' jeonghan was in earlier. no thirdwheeling, no studying, no chan, no nothing. "yes!"
jisoo and jeonghan sought to the land of the matchmakers. before jeonghan was allowed to sigh and yell out compliments on jisoo's world, jisoo grabbed him again somewhere. jisoo does it so often now that it was starting to have an effect on jeonghan. what, is jisoo trying to make jeonghan like him?
what the heck? jeonghan asks himself, feeling his face heat up. if jisoo's objective is to make jeonghan like the matchmaker that way, he is succeeding. oh no, oh no.
"okay, we're at my house, you've been here. but then, you haven't seen my...." jisoo walks through the path on the gap of his house and fence. jeonghan follows suit, looking at the vacuum flask that jisoo held. is that still safe to drink? "backyard!"
"oh my god!" the human exclaims, eyes shining with excitement. jeonghan looks around jisoo's backyard, ignoring the matchmaker.
the backyard of hong jisoo was full of forget-me-nots(let's not disparage the weirdly shaped bushes), surrounding jeonghan like he was a gladiator in the middle of the dome. the grass in the middle smelt fresh, the sky above was pink and purple, clouded and decorated with a few glittery stars. it's like it's always twilight in this place.
"done marvelling?" jisoo asked, approaching jeonghan. the enthralled human turns around and hugs jisoo immediately, for introducing jeonghan to such a beautiful place. "h-hey, i'm holding our coffee jug!"
jeonghan pulls away with a laugh, finding jisoo very endearing. "this is beautiful. what the frick, why didn't you let me go here earlier?"
"because you'd want to stay in my world and that would make a huge fuss." jisoo explains, the both of them laughing after. well, it was funny because it's true. "so, let's sit on the grass?"
"i'd be happy to," jeonghan says, going ahead and sitting cross legged on the grass. joshua picks one forget-me-not from his garden, before sitting beside jeonghan. "ah, this is better than the life in hollywood?"
"how would you know? you haven't even lived in hollywood yet, right?" jisoo asks, laughing. jeonghan grimaces at him, causing jisoo's laughter to double up. "here, a flower. on first dates, they usually have that, no?"
"i don't know, this is my first date," jeonghan states, grimace unfaltering as he accepted jisoo's flower. the human inspects the flower intently, before saying, "forget-me-not. okay, hong jisoo, i won't forget you."
"you will try," jisoo says, finally making jeonghan laugh. jisoo smiles as he uncaps the vacuum flask, sipping on the warm coffee that it contained. "coffee?"
"yes, i'd love coffee," jeonghan steals his vacuum flask from jisoo's hands, gulping once. jisoo was impressed that jeonghan could withstand the hotness of that coffee. but then, jeonghan could handle jisoo—just kidding. "hmm, i watched you make this for ten minutes. i was disappointed, i thought that was our date."
"no!" jisoo replies, as if that's the most offending statement ever said in history of mankind. "would i let your first ever date be that boring? did you think i yanked you out of that cafe just to get you in another boring date?" jisoo opens the pack of lollipops, grabbing a blue one before unwrapping it. "it's my first date too."
"um, fuck, i didn't realise we're both new to this?" jeonghan says in realization, gulping from the vacuum flask. "but this is surprisingly going well, if we start from the moment we walked inside your world."
"true. i guess i had an advantage."
silence elopes. though, it was not an awkward silence(which would've happened if jeonghan stayed with chan and seungcheol) that nobody hoped for it to be. it was a sweet silence that consists of sipping coffee from a vacuum flask and looking up to admire the sky above them.
jeonghan places the pretty flower on his head of fluffy hair, standing up to grab another forget-me-not to put on jisoo's hair. when jeonghan executed this (fluffy) action, jisoo looked up at him almost immediately which made the flower fall from jisoo's hair.
"you ruined it! we're supposed to be matching!" jeonghan whines, picking up the flower on the grass, and leaning close to put it on jisoo's hair again. "what? you like this?"
"oh, yeah, totally, your breath smells like coffee." jisoo says. jeonghan found his statement weird. "this is what people do in first dates do, right?"
"in kdramas, they go to amusement parks or something of that sort," jeonghan explains. "this is much better." jeonghan pulls away, noticing the sheer blush on jisoo's face before he lifted his gaze to the sky.
he's blushing?! oh my god! what have i done?
"jeonghan, you finished the coffee."
"you have a lollipop anyway. by the way, i want one too."
"okay, since your grades are nice today."
"what?! that's mine! you don't have to make rules! you can't!"
"yeah? well, you cheated anywa—"
"i did not!"
the two kept on bantering, heedlessly letting time pass by them like the wind. jeonghan got a little angry in the end, since he didn't get more time to watch the sky before his 48 hours were over—but jisoo is unharmed, so no need to fret.
(jeonghan secretly wants to spend 48 hours there.)
"today was a good day," jeonghan says, holding his empty vacuum flask. "and an amazing first date."
jisoo laughs, nodding. "same here. alright, enter the mirror now, i have to stay here." jisoo pats jeonghan's arm, getting this weird surge of electricity down his spine at their contact. jeonghan was unmoving. "humans exit through the same mirror they entered from, remember? don't wo—"
"goodnight, jisoo," jeonghan smiles warmly, clutching his vacuum flask rather tight. the poor oblivious college senior was catching something. "i really enjoyed it. jokes aside. just wanted you to know."
jisoo smiled back. how is jeonghan this cute? smiling all coy and warm, looking so small in his baggy hoodie, that forget-me-not on his hair was little cherry on top. what. the. fuck.
"me too. now, have your beauty sleep." jisoo says, turning around to leave first. jeonghan enters the mirror as well, after jisoo was two metres away from him.
jisoo had work to do. jeonghan murdered his garden of forget-me-nots. that took a while to grow and mantain! jeonghan was a pain in the ass, but jisoo can't bully him too much or else jeonghan will cry and everything bad he did to that human will come rushing back to him like huge tidal waves.
surly, jisoo laughs. that boy.
"woah, what the hell is going on?" hoshi's familiar voice makes jisoo turn around. jisoo's grin only grows wider when hoshi continued teasing him about it. "hey, what the heck is going on?! are you in love, hong jisoo?"
"i don't know." jisoo replied simply.
"when you fall in love, i'll be the first one to ay congratulations." hoshi says, patting jisoo's back once before walking past him.
