Mal, Evie, Ruby, Carlos, and Jay walked into the girls room after classes were over.
"Okay, we have to start putting together our plan," Mal said as she threw her bag on her bed. "I think we're all in agreement that our best opportunity is during the coronation." Everyone looked at each other as they stood in front of her. "Something wrong?"
"Mal, could we possibly wait a little longer to steal the wand?" Ruby asked. "I think all of us actually like being in Auradon for the most part." Everyone nodded in agreement.
"I like that I can have dogs here," Carlos said as Dude licked him.
"It's nice to be recognized for my talents in sports," Jay said.
"I like that I'm actually smart here," Evie saidas she clutched one of her books.
"And I like that I can have access to the musical instruments I need to further my skills instead of making them myself out of trash," Ruby said.
"Are you guys kidding me?!" Mal exclaimed. "None of you are taking anything seriously! Especially you, Ruby. While the rest of us were being productive, you were off fooling around with a guy."
"Because I like him," Ruby replied defensively. "Is it such a horrible thing?"
"If it gets in the way of our mission, then yes," Mal said.
"Unlike my father, Marlin actually cares about me," Ruby said angrily. "And he doesn't judge me for the crimes of my father like everyone else does. But above all else, he makes me happy."
"You all heard our parent's message," Mal replied angrily. "They are expecting us to steal the wand during the coronation. If we fail them-"
"So what if we fail them!" Ruby yelled. "They will be trapped on an island with a barrier. They can't touch us here." The boys and Evie looked at each other.
"It would not be fair to allow our parents to stay on that filthy island while we are living here," Mal protested.
"And why not?" Ruby asked. "They were put there to pay for their crimes. We shouldn't have to be held accountable for what they did. It's completely fair that we're here and they're on the isle." Jay stood up.
"Okay, let's calm down before someone hears us," he said. Mal and Ruby stared at each other for a moment. Mal's eyes glowed green while Ruby's turned black.
"My mother is powerful," Mal said quietly. "If I don't do this, there's no telling what she would do to me." Ruby walked closer to Mal.
"My father is powerful too," Ruby said. "But I know no matter what, he would never hurt me if I failed him. Your mother would not have the strength to hurt you as long as we keep her on the isle." Mal looked away from Ruby and blinked.
"Okay," Mal conceded. The others smiled at one another.
"The plan's off then?" Carlos asked as he held Dude.
"We're not stealing the wand," Mal smiled.
"Oh thank goodness," Evie said relieved. Jay and Carlos high fived.
"Mal, I know disobeying our parent's orders is hard for you, but thank you," Ruby said.
