Summary: Fernando asked Nico a question he didn't know how to answer.

"Mommy, what does it mean to die?" Nico looked at his 4 year old stunned. How could a child even one like Fernando worry about death.

" 'nando why do you ask me such a question? Did something happend with daddy today?" Nico could only guess what his child saw when he sneaks off the the infirmary to see Will at work.

"No mommy, I was playing with aunt Hazel and these girls walked by and were stareing at her, then I heard them say that grandpa Hades was doing a terrorable job if dead bodies were walking around." Nico looked horrified, how could anyone say that about his sister, in front of his child no less. He could only guess what Hazel was feeling.

"Then the other girl said that Hazel might one day get hungry and bite me." Nico was enraged how dare they say his sister would even think of hurting his child! "I didn't get it so I asked Hazel what they meant, but she was really sad and I asked her why she was sad, then she said 'that is saddened her that people were so jealous of people who have what they want that they'll be the lowest and bitterest of them all.' Then she kissed my head and told me to play with uncle Frank and uncle Leo. When I told them what the ladies said they got really mad and told me to go find auntie Annabeth and Aunt Piper. When I did and told them they gave me some candy and told me to go play with your with the other kids, but I was still confused." Nico knew the question he that still bothered his son, he took a breath to brace himself.

"What is still bothering you my son."

"Why did they say Hazel was dead, she looks alive and doesn't look like the skeletons from the underworld."

" 'nando you must understand that sometimes the gods do things they believed were best for the world. Hazel I'm afraid was dead," he looked into his sons eyes, his heart broke as he saw tears form in the corner of his chubby face "but Hera had saved her. She saved to help protect to world so it would be a safer place for you and her children." Nico knew he had lied to his son but he couldn't risk there being even a chance Fernando would seek revenge on the gods for something that happend so long ago. He would tell the truth but when he was older and understood the world better.

"What does it mean to die? Do your do straight to Hades or stay where you died, does grandpa treat everyone nicely?" Fernando persisted.

"Baby are you asking what happens when you die or how the underworld works?" Nico was a little confused by the 4 years questions.

"I want to know if Hazel had ouchies when she went to the underworld or did grandpa fix her?" He yelled almost screaming. Then it click in Nico's head why his son was so determined to get an answer from him.

"Oh my sweet baby, yes she was fine. Grandpa made her feel better." He picked up his son rocking back and forth to calm him. "Grandpa, treated her very kindly, like he always does with good people." He rocked and hummed. Fernando was about to say something when a loud scream was heard, worried Nico put his son down and ran outside to see two Aphrodite girls screaming, running around covered in mud and feathers. He then heard Annabeth yell "she what happens when your being bitches!" He saw Hazel laughing uncontrollably while the rest of the demigods giggled or smirked. He turned to return to his cabin, he owed someone a big hug and a round of candy land.
