Zandriel and Mandiriel landed on the roof of the building the buzzing originated from. Zandriel gestured for his brother to remain on the roof, keeping an eye on the surrounding area. Glancing around the neighborhood he hopped off the roof, onto the balcony below.Walking through the sliding glass door, he surveyed the room he'd just walked into. It was a bedroom, he'd guess female human judging by the clothing and makeup sprawled over the place. It was dark, pitch black, except for the bright white energy illuminating the bed. It was coming from the sleeping human. Her room was completely silent except for a slight, soft snore. He couldn't sense any negative energy surrounding the place, and with the pure white of the woman in the bed, he was honestly surprised the place wasn't swarming with demons. Zandriel had never seen a soul so clean, so untouched by the human world and all of its temptations. Still, he hadn't come here to admire her soul, he'd come to find out how she had learned his name, why she insisted on calling him so persistently, and why her calling him had hurt him. Once he found that out, he'd be on his way back to Superior, debrief him, then get back on his usual rotation. He glanced around the room again, hoping for some clue, when he heard it.
"Zandriel. Zandriel." She was calling his name, in her sleep. Not only had she learned it, now she somehow knew it well enough to say in her sleep? Zandriel had an odd feeling about this. He opened communication with Mandiriel saying a short, "Inside, now." Before closing it to wait for his brother to come inside. He knew as a soldier Mandiriel would check one last time before coming inside, it was just their nature, so he allowed the usual amount of waiting time. Once he heard his brother enter, he turned toward him. "Your bestowed gift, what is it?"
Mandiriel had finished his own perusal of the room, stopping on the sleeping human before answering Zandriel. "I can hear past conversations, and if I have contact long enough I can see it play out. Usually takes a minute or so before I hear anything of use." Zandriel nodded towards the girl, "Even if they're asleep?" Mandrel laughed, "Especially when they're asleep, the walls they build fall as soon as their body falls asleep." He took a step forward, then stopped. Mandiriel looked at his brother for a bit, then back to the girl.
"Why do I have a feeling this is going to change everything?" Zandriel couldn't answer him, he had acknowledged that this situation was to be treated with caution until they figured out just what they were dealing with, but until he knew what or why it was happening, he couldn't treat it with the caution he would've. All he could do was nod for his brother to use his gifts.
Mandiriel nodded back, taking the last few steps forward he placed his index and middle fingers in the center of her forehead, just above her brows. Zandriel watched closely, noting the expressions on his usually laughing face. He had been surprised to see the concern in the war room, now he watched as his face went from confusion to fear, from fear to shock, then sadness. His brother who was known for always smiling, shed a few tears as he heard and saw things no angel has previously seen. Mandiriel jerked his hand back, wide-eyed. He turned to his brother and wiped his tears.
"Her guardian angel was killed. By a demon. She sacrificed herself to keep her alive," he muttered, inclining his head towards the human. "Her name is Amanda. Our fallen's name was Kariel. I had trained with her when I was trying to be a guardian angel. She was the best, she was always cracking jokes, making training fun. None of the others could pull it off as she could." He broke off, gazing out the window. Zandriel took a short step forward, clasping his hand on Mandiriel's shoulder in silence.
