1850 Tristian's Story

Part 2

She looked at me and said "we better get in it getting cold now and our families might wonder where we got to", I nodded and then I got up and took her hand to help her up and she did take my hand to let me help. We stated walking back I notice she was shivering so I took off my jacket and put it around her. As we were walking you could see the flowers around the area there was roses, Lilly's and bunch more. I could not believe the girl I had seen earlier that morning was walking with me I could not believe that this is happening. We got closer to the stair and we stopped and she said "thank you for the conversation and for your time, it was nice to get to know you and thank you for earlier I wanted to say thank you but you were gone", she took my jacket off her shoulders he long hair fell down. I replied to her "Anna, no thank you I couldn't stand being in a room full of people who like to plan other people's futures", she smiles.

Then suddenly, we hear a lady shouting "Anna". Then Anna ran up the stairs in her long red dress flowing as she walked away. As she walks up the stairs, I cannot think about the time we spent together I stayed behind for a bit to think about this girl I have been thinking about all day. I felt like a boy getting his toy for his birthday or Christmas. This amazing girl told me so much about books she read and how she looked at life as a gift that has been given to us and we must do our best to get to where we need to be.

I walked up the stairs and into the house everyone was still talking and drinking I went to find my mother and sister who are still talking to their friends so I minded my own business and stared talking to many people one man said "Hello Tristian", as I turned to see this man I relieved it was Edgar Pennyworth one of my father's friends, he continued saying "I did not think we would get you up here but here you are". I smiled and said, "well of course I had to come who will escort my lovely mother and sister", he continued to question me about why I have not got married or about my university work.

The reason I was not married was because I wanted to find someone who could look at me the same as Romeo and Juliet looked at each other. As he continued to talk there was someone trying to attempt to make a toast and as I looked over to the fireplace where this man was standing it was Anna's dad, "I would like to make a toast and explain my families actions for today, My daughter Anna was supposed to have gotten married but could not go through with it and me and my wife agreed", the man was going on and then said "My daughter wants to get to know her future husband first before marring him. She will be deciding on who she will marry". I looked over at Anna and she is standing with her siblings smiling that beautiful smile, can light up a room. She looked at me and I cannot help but smile back. Everything went back people where drinking their drinks and people talking then my mother walked over and said "Oh dear, that's where you been talking to Edgar", my mother started talking to Edgar, I can't help but be memorised by Anna dancing with her sisters to the music in the ballroom. Then my mother said "can you believe that their letting their daughter decide on who she can marry", I looked at my mother and replied "MOTHER", not realising my tone and volume and then I said to her in my lower tone "she's right I think we should have a choice in who we marry as that the best way to build a better marriage". I walked off from my mother and Edgar.

I walked to the entrance of the ballroom and watched from a distance there were a bunch of people dancing now and Eliza was dancing with her soon to be husband Edward. She looks so happy they have been in each other's lives since they were born. When they were engagement was announced they were 16 there 18 now but our families have been planning their wedding since they were 10 years of age. Watching them dance they show how much they love each other.

Looking around this ballroom I can see a fireplace painted white and the walls are a light grey with white rims around the ceiling. As my eyes look around the room another song came on, Eliza and Edward are walking towards me with a young lady I cannot notice who it is but as the young girl is talking to a woman behind her. As the young lady turned around it was Anna. Eliza said, "Tristian this is Anna, Anna this is my brother", Anna fully turned around and said "Tristian", Eliza looked at her and answered, "have you two meets before". Anna went on to explain on how we meet but my sister wanting to know all the questions while Edward was just smiling at how much talking the young ladies are doing. I excused myself and asked, "Anna would you like to dance", Anna nodded a gentle yes and I held out my hand and she took it. Anna soft gentle hand touching mine we moved slowly like the time in the world has stopped and everything was slower we joined on the floor. We got into the dance position slow waltz my hand on her hip and my hand holding hers. We danced to the song looking at each other we were careful around people but keeping our gaze still strong.
