chapter 7

Seven

Spencers POV

I had just bough samantha a new phone. I didnt care about the cost. I wasnt trying to buy her stuff so she would like me more, i wanted o buy her a few special things that she never had.

We went and bought her some new bedding and a few accessories for her new room. she said that her favourite colours were gray and teal. she chose a white duvet that have gray and teal dots on it. she also got a gray light and teal bins for on her dresser.

we headed back to my apartment after shopping. as we pulled into the parking lot, i noticed JJ's car. she wasn't in it. i didn't say anything to samantha.

we made the hike up the few flights of stairs. once we were on our floor, i led the way to the apartment. at the door stood JJ.

"hey guys! i tried calling but it went straight to voicemail, i just thought i'd let you know of some good schools in the area" JJ said as we got to her at the door.

I could sense that Samantha felt uneasy at the idea of school.

"that's very kind of you JJ. come on inside" i said as i unlocked the door. she walked in behind Samantha and i. i told Samantha that she should go and put her bins in her room and start unpacking. She did just that.

i sat on the couch and JJ followed.
"why are you doing this Jennifer?" i asked, an angry tone to my voice. JJ looked confused.

"what do you mean?"

"you come to my apartment and start talking about schools for Samantha!"

"i don't see anything wrong with that, i was just trying to help"

"i'm sorry, i just - i don't think she's ready for school"

JJ looked at me like i told her the sky is red.

"spence, she's 13. she has to go to school"

I knew she had to go to school. i just didn't want her to be stressed. she was just told that her dad is a murder.

"i know that. i just care about her and i don't want her to be too stressed"

"i understand. will she be going back to school though?"

"of course! i just think she needs a week to get settled"

JJ nodded, "i'll leave these with you then. these are the top 5 best schools in the area."

she put 5 brochures down on the table before standing up. she walked toward the door and i stopped her.

"jj?"

"yes?"

"thank you"

she gave me a smile before walking out the door.
