"Are you sure about this..?" Tyler looked at me with some slight concern, as we walked out of the building after doing our shift. It ended a bit earlier than Tyler and I were expecting, but we aren't complaining about it either.
"Of course I am. In fact, Mr. Walter even suggested it! And I know that they'll come back, so I need to prepare myself just in case.." Thinking about today's events, I decided to buy a taser just in case I would need it for some self-defense.
"Do you know what a taser even is?" Tyler asked me, making me look back at him in response. "Those things you hold, right?" He stayed silent for a while and just sighed, which brings some confusion to my face.
"No Cyra, tasers are the ones that can shoot at a certain distance. Stun guns however, are the ones you hold in your hand and need to be very close to the person to stun." He explained whilst we walked down a gun shop.
"Welp... Go get yourself a stun gun, Cy." I nodded at him but paused as soon as I am in front of the doorway. "What about you? Aren't you gonna need it as well?" I asked Tyler.
He only shook his head, though faced away from me after his response. "I have a fair share of tight security and tasers, as well as some alarms."
I only rolled my eyes, chuckling at him. "Just asking! Gotta make sure my boyfriend is gonna be at home safe and sound!" I teased, though his face softened a bit as I noticed a bit too early.
"Shut up, Dawn.. Don't call me that.."
"Awww c'mon!! I know you enjoy my everyday banter!"
"Don't fiddle with people's hearts, Cy."
"I won't! And chances are, I wouldn't even have one to be interested in me to begin with."
He only remained silent but just sighed, giving me one last look before he turned his back, walking away from the gun shop.
I waved him goodbye but soon lowered my hand down, looking at the gun shop in front of me. I have never bought anything from one, nor have I tried to. "Only way to find out.." I sighed, entering the gun shop as I internally prepared myself.
~~~
It wasn't that bad, except the eyes of the customers is what gave me slight anxiety. Luckily it wasn't odd for someone like me to buy a stun gun, as crime rates are starting to plummet quite high.
I took a train this time instead of the cab, though I felt a little bit drained and tired. I sat down and let my mind wander as my eyes watched the passing blur of buildings from afar, my ears occupied with the ambient sound of the train this time.
There aren't not much people in the train I'm in, though only a few. It's actually.. kinda nice to have some peace and quiet, with a few ambient sounds to boot.
People would have been unnerved with this silence, but for me it was perfect for me to relax. I took a deep breath and sighed, my faint reflection on the window I'm facing.
'Tyler is obviously starting to develop something for me..' A train of thoughts soon entered my head. 'But I don't see him anymore than just a friend.. If anything, I don't deserve to be his girlfriend or anything..' The train soon entered a tunnel, as the background turned dark momentarily.
'I don't deserve that. He's just a friend in my eyes, but it will pain him..' That growing unease soon starts to pile in within me, my knuckles turning white as I formed them into tight fists.
'He'll think that I'm just joking around and not take things seriously.'
'I'll probably make him bitter.'
