The Call

It was a rather busy day, though I was almost done with my work. I was arranging the papers that was to be submitted to the fax machine until one of my co-workers called my name.

"Cy! Someone wants you on the line!"

"Coming, coming!"

It was rather strange, as I never receive any phone calls from the office I'm in. If it was someone I know, like my friend Luna, they would call my number instead. If it was my roommate Tyler, still the same result probably.

"Hello?"

"Is this Ms. Cyra Dawn that I am speaking to?" A male voice questioned me from the other line.

"Yes, what is it?"

"Ms. Dawn, as I am requested by Luna Youngman, I am here to tell you that she is sent to the hospital due to being sedated with drugs that we are yet to confirm."

Wait.. She was drugged?! Who did that to her..? "Drugged? What happened?"

"She was sedated near below her ear, though it seemed that there were no further injuries except pricks of a needle."

I sighed shakily, letting my palm rest on my forehead.

"I will be handing the phone to Ms. Youngman, as she is the one who requested to call you."

"Oh, thank you doctor."

The sound of another voice took over the line, the voice sounding a bit frantic and familiar. "Cyra! Oh thank God you picked up.."

"Woah chill there, Lulu! You know I'm always a call away, right?" I said in a joking matter, hearing her give out a small sigh. She's probably having a small smile on her face, that's for sure.

"No matter.. Listen Cyra, I need you to stay at my place for.. To be honest, I dont know how long I'll be here. There's an important file that I have sitting there, and I can't lose it." Her voice sounded quite serious, which made me nod in understanding.

"I'll do just that, except I'll head there tomorrow since I need to inform Tyler. You sure you're gonna be okay there, Luna? No need for some hospital visit or..?"

"No need. If I were to guess, I'll probably be out here after a few weeks."

"Welp, I'll still give you a visit so you won't feel lonely!" I grinned, and I swear that she just shook her head. "You're still the same, Cyra.." "Hey! Is that a bad thing?" I retorted in a teasing manner.

Luna must have paused for a while before responding. "Actually.. It's not so bad, I believe. Just... Stay safe over there, okay? And be sure to check out those BOLO's that is in my computer."

"Awww! Luna, so you do care about me!" I chuckled, though Luna groaned. "Cyra, I'm serious! I caught a man picking on my window, and Tan- and another one when I checked my cameras!" I raised a brow. Did she hold her tongue about something?

"Alrighty then, Lulu. I know that everything is kinda chaotic right now, but a little joke doesnt kill anyone!" Luna only sighed. "Let's just hope it won't."

"Hey! I make sure they're kill-proof! Besides, wouldn't that be called a.." "Oh God Cyra no-" ".. a JOY-kill?"

The other line went silent, me stifling a laugh. I could just imagine Luna's disappointed face, being so done with my corny jokes.

".. Just stay safe, okay..? I don't want you to end up like those people who are in my list during my crime watch nights.." She sighed.

I almost forgot that she is a crime analyst, which is a very serious job that handle those incriminating suspecting individuals, wanted people, and such that we consider dangerous.

Honestly, I really admire her hard work and effort, but at the same time I worry since a crime analyst could also have its cons, such as probably being hunted down like what happened to Luna.

I took a deep breathe and replied. "You also stay safe as well, Lulu. Believe me, losing you would be the last thing I would want in my entire life." I said in a concerned tone, a worm of worry crawled within me.

What if something bad happens to Luna? What if those people she mentioned that were on the BOLO's hunts her down in the hospital..?

"I will be, Cy. Well.. After I get discharged, do you want to watch a movie with me? Like old times?" My eyes sparkled, a spark of joy ignited.

"With hotdog sandwiches?!" "Don't forget the popcorn, Cy." "Yes! Absolutely!"

I heard something that I couldn't decipher from the other side, Luna seeming to have nod as she went back to the call.

"I need to go, Cy. I'll send you my address via email, okay? The important file is placed on my desk, near the computer." "Gotcha! Stay safe, okay?"

"You too, Cy.. See you after my discharge." "See you!!" I said right back at her, the phone call ended right away after I said that.

"Well.. Better tell Tyler about what Luna told me.." I muttered, returning to arranging the papers.

"Luna.. What have you gotten yourself into..?" I sighed, closing my eyes for a moment.

"Well.. Let's just finish these papers. The more I finish these, the earlier I tell Tyler..!"

~Small Skip~

It took me some time, but I managed to finish my work before midnight, so it should be good. "See you guys tomorrow!" I waved at the others who were leaving, though I already head off before even seeing if they returned the gesture.

Getting a cab just in time, I listened to some music while looking outside the window, all of the lights and buildings passing by, everything a rushed blur.

Luna is a strong woman, but even her strength will become the death of her if she isn't careful about what she's doing.

Ever since Sarah died from the hands of the infamous Blue Blood Killer, things weren't the same anymore.. It was like something in Luna snapped the moment Sarah became the unfortunate victim.

Because of this, Luna was so desperate to find even a sliver of information about the Blue Blood Killer, a name would even do. Because of that, she tried her chances on finding out who it could be, but even her boss refused.

"Miss? We're here at your destination." I luckily stopped my music the moment the driver spoke. "Oh! Thanks." I nodded at him, giving him my payment and a tip before heading out to the apartment complex.

I pulled out my keys and unlocked the door, revealing Tyler typing away on his laptop. "Hey Tyler." "What is it?" I rolled my eyes, ignoring the sarcasm.

"I'll be heading to Luna's place tomorrow morning. Are you gonna be okay with the rest?" Tyler looked up to me, not responding for a while before facing back to the screen.

"I'll handle it. Just check out the BOLO's everybody is being provided with." "Aww, so you DO care!" "Just get to sleep. I'll set the alarm."

I only shrugged and decided to call it a day. Crashing on my bed, still with my uniform on. I couldn't care about changing my clothes, since I'll be changing early around tomorrow anyways.

I let my eyelids close as they started to feel heavier and heavier, the feeling of sleepiness has finally succumbed to me.

I was then in a deep, deep slumber...
