42. Bir's Claim

Zara and Kabir have slipped into this new schedule of her sleeping in his room, from one month. It has been more than two months since he joined the hospital.

She was enjoying this phase. They went hospital together but made sure that others at hospital don't catch up on them. She didn't want to hear people talking about them.

Not now, not yet because they themselves had not talked about it.

Sometimes she thought it was foolish to keep all this inside her head but then kept quiet giving him some time to figure it out. She didn't have any experience in this department and didn't want to burden him with anything.

And truth to be said, she was enjoying this phase of her life, may be more than she should. For the first time in her life, she was doing something out of normal and she liked it and didn't want to jeopardise it yet.

He was the love of her life and she loved loving him and wasn't ready to let anything take it away. He tried his best to take care of her, she was stronger with him. They went out for coffee, trying his favourite ones. They also visited the orphanage once again and she was happy to meet Uncle Omar who greeted her like a daughter.

Today she heard that Kabir's department was getting a visit from some rich men who will increase the funding if they liked the staff and facilities. She knew that Kabir was supposed to give them the tour and she was sure that he will give it confidently. She heard that Kabir made all preparations and the guests were supposed to come in an hour but he was not around, which made others a bit worried. She knew where to find him and prayed that he should not be doing what she thinks he is doing.

She went to the terrace and there he was standing and doing what she feared. He had a lighter in his hand. God, she hoped that he didn't smoke otherwise she would feel really upset.

In past he used to smoke when he thought no one was noticing him but she did. She always noticed him smoking before his scholarship interviews, hiding from his sweetie pie and other friends. That was probably the only time he smoked and she knew that it was because of nervousness but that didn't mean she liked it. She didn't say anything in past but she won't stay quiet now.

"Please tell me that you are not smoking at our place." Zara said as she stood beside him.

Kabir smirked at her and said, "I only have lighter Sunshine. I don't smoke anymore. But good see that you are concerned about me and we have our place."

Now Zara flustered.

"I...I'm concerned about environmental pollution. Smoking could harm so many people and also cause..." She was again cut in the middle when he silenced her with his lips.

He really liked to kiss her when she was talking but then again he kissed her when she was quiet too. But this was the first time he kissed her outside his apartment. And even though it was a bold step Zara liked it.

Where is the shy girl from childhood? Her inner voice asked.

Still inside but it isn't a bad thing to kiss the man you love. She countered and focussed on the kiss.

"Now I have both, confidence and good luck." Kabir said smirking and Zara just hit his chest playfully.

"All the best, Bir." She said with her perfect smile.

"Thanks Sunshine. I'll be waiting for my reward after we reach home." He said and winked at her making her feel all shy and mushy and they walked out of the terrace and he gave the presentation.
