I looked out into the empty space, watching Amy who was still in her nightgown and robe, and floating outside the open door of the TARDIS as the Doctor holds her ankle. I smile.
"Come on, Pond," the Doctor said, and pulled her back inside.
"Now do you believe me?" he asked her.
"OK," Amy admits, her eyes wide and an excited smile on her face. "Your box is a spaceship. It's really, really a spaceship," to the outside, she leans over and yells: "We are in space! Whoo! What are we breathing?" she turns to me and the Doctor.
"I've extended the air shell - we're fine," the Doctor explains.
"My turn!" I squeal. Faster than the two could blink, I jumped outside.
"Whoa!" the Doctor yelps and manages to grab my ankle before I could float off. He pulls me down slightly and I giggle.
"Oopsie," I said. I looked down. "Hey!" I said. "What's that?" The Doctor looks down, and pretty much let's go of me. It was a very good thing that Amy was watching me and manages to grab me.
"Now, that's interesting," he squats down and Amy pulls me back into the TARDIS. Amy squats next to the Doctor and I look over their shoulders. "29th Century. Solar flares roast the earth," the Doctor turns and walks back into the TARDIS.
"And the entire human race packs its bags," he explains as he starts pressing the buttons and working the controls. I walked over and clicked a button. A beep went off and he lightly swatted my hand away. He grins at me as he continues to explain the spaceship. "and moves out till the weather improves. Whole nations..."
"Doctor?" Amy said, still on the edge of the TARDIS. I looked over at her and blinked. No she wasn't.
"..migrating to the stars," the Doctor was saying.
"Doctor?" I asked.
"Isn't that amazing?" The Doctor laughed.
"Doctor!" Amy yelped.
The Doctor finally looks up and I point the TARDIS door. We both dashed over the the doors and find that Amy is actually outside clinging to the roof of the TARDIS.
"Well, come on. I've found us a spaceship," the Doctor said, waving his hand.
==============================================
The Doctor has pulled up the spaceship on the TARDIS monitor. It was huge. It looked like a broken piece of rock with buildings all over it.
"This is the United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland - all of it, bolted together and floating in the sky. Starship UK. It's Britain, but metal. That's not just a ship - that's an idea. That's a whole country, living and laughing and...shopping," at this Amy chuckles. I smiled. "Searching the stars for a new home."
"Can we go out and see?" I asked eagerly.
"Course we can but first, there's a thing." The Doctor said, jumping around the console. Me and Amy exchange a skeptical look.
"A thing?"Amy asked curiously.
"An important thing," the Doctor said. "In fact, thing one-" suddenly, he picked up a magnifying glass and looks through it. "We are observers only. That's the one rule I've always stuck to in my travels. I never get involved in the affairs of other peoples or planets," he looks at the monitor that had focused on a girl. "Ooh! That's interesting," The girl was sitting alone, and crying.
"So we're like a wildlife documentary, yeah?" Amy was saying. "Cos if they see a wounded little cub or something, they can't just save it - they've got to keep filming and let it die," we're all watching the girl now. "That's got to be hard. I don't think I could do that. Don't you find that hard - being all, like, detached and cold?" Suddenly, the Doctor appears on the screen with the girl. We looked at each other as the girl runs away.
