Things had gotten weird.

The Doctor was in a harness seat in the space underneath the TARDIS console doing some welding work. Amy was pacing nervously above. I was sitting on the steps watching the Doctor work. He had these funny goggles on his eyes but currently, they weren't very funny.

"Oh!" The Doctor was babbling. "The life out there, it dazzles. I mean, it blinds you to the things that are important. I've seen it devour relationships and plans..." suddenly, there was a small pop of an explosion. Amy stilled, I jumped slightly, and Rory yelped. "Ohhh! It's meant to do that...because for one person to have seen all that, to taste the glory and then go back, it WILL tear you apart. So...I'm sending you somewhere. Together,"

By the way, Rory was with us.

"Whoa!" Amy said, pausing again in her pacing. "What, like a date?"

"Anywhere you want, any time you want," the Doctor said, walking up the steps to join them at the console. I stayed below, eyeing through the glass floor. "One condition - it has to be amazing. The Moulin Rouge in 1890! The first Olympic Games! Think of it as a wedding present, because, frankly, it's either this or tokens," the Doctor takes in Rory's stunned expression. "It's a lot to take in, isn't it?" He passes them, heading up a set of stairs. "Tiny box, huge room inside. What's that about? Let me explain," I had walked up the steps, leaning on the railway.

"It's another dimension," Rory said. The Doctor had come down the other side.

"It's basically another dimen..." he stared blankly at Rory. "What?"

"After Prisoner Zero," Rory explained. "I've been reading up on all the latest scientific theories; FTL travel, parallel universes," the Doctor frowns. I snickered.

"You just took out his favorite line from what other people say," I whispered to Rory who frowned.

"I like the bit when someone says, 'It's bigger on the inside!'," he said, frowning a little harder. "I always look forward to that,"

"See?" I said and Rory slowly nodded.

"So," Amy said, switching the topic back. "This date. I'm kind of done with running down corridors. What do you think, Rory?" Rory gives a muffled snort. I look between the two.

"How about somewhere..." the Doctor thought for a minute. "Romantic?" He flips some levers and the TARDIS whirls into motion.

"So, should I stay out of it then?" I ask as we head to wherever. The Doctor looked at me like I was crazy. Which I probably was.

"No!" He said, running around the console. "You and me will explore while they go out on a date,"

"Then you better keep her safe," Rory and Amy say at the exact same time. They look a little uncomfortable, but I laugh.

"See!" I said. "At least you two still have something in common!"

EXT. VENICE, DAY, MARKETPLACE

The TARDIS materizlises and the Doctor runs down the steps to the door, pulling it open. He stepped out as Amy, Rory, and I followed.

"Venice!" The Doctor said, opening his arms. "Venezia! La Serenissima! Impossible city. Preposterous city!" We step out behind him, Amy and Rory looking around in amazement. I laughed. "Founded by refugees running from Attila the Hun. It was just a collection of little wooden huts in the marsh, but became one of the most powerful cities in the world.

"Constantly being invaded, constantly flooding... constantly..." he continued as we began to walk around. "Just beautiful! Oh, you gotta love Venice. And so many people did. Byron, Napoleon, Casanova. Oooh, that reminds me." He looks down at this watch around his wrist. "1580. That's all right. Casanova doesn't get born for 145 years. Don't want to run into him. I owe him a chicken,"
