Annabeth's POV:

"What was that about?" Luka asked, concerned, but also with a tinge of coldness. "I dropped my purse, and he was going to give it to me, but coincidentally he's here too. Oh, and I won't need you to walk me back. I'm going with Percy to get my purse." I noted.

He didn't look happy, but I thought nothing of it. "I missed you so much," he told me once we were seated. "Me too. I knew you wouldn't break our promise." It was true. I have complete faith and trust in him, I knew deep down that he would never do anything to hurt me, but there was something bugging me.

"Do you like Percy?" Luke questioned, snapping me from my thoughts. "What? Huh, no! No way. I've only like talked to him twice."

"Oh, because I really like you." That escalated quickly.

"Luke, I'm gonna need some time to think."

"That's alright, this was sudden, so you need some time to think."

"Thanks for understanding, Luke." We spent the rest of the hour chatting and having fun. "I gotta go, Annabeth. I hope I'll get to see you again." I chuckled. "Don't be silly. Of course, we'll meet again." He brought the back of my hand up to his lips and kissed it. "How gentlemanly." I tease. "Of course I'm gentlemanly. Only the best for you." I smiled.

"Till next time, Juliet."

"Till next time."

I didn't say Romeo. It's not for him yet, but we'll see if he gets to be called my Romeo. I have high hopes for you Luke, don't mess this up. I wanted to love himnow, but it was impossible. He left, and it's going to take a while for me to get accustomed to him coming back. Don't get me wrong

'He's so dreamy, and perfect, and amazing.'

'No, it's fishy.'

'Oh shut up. You know Luke won't hurt you.'

'He might. You haven't seen him in like, what? 2 years? He must've changed.'

My brain and my heart were arguing, but I didn't know which trusted Luke, and which didn't.  I was caught in the crossfire. "Let's go?" I heard a soft, but rich voice ask. Like a thousand waves, crashing on a rocky surface. Like dipping your feet in the water. It was refreshing.

"Percy." I breathed out. I don't know what came over me, but I just felt relief wash through me. I let out a breath that I didn't even know I was holding. I smiled at him, fighting the regret filling me.

Why did I think asking to go get my purse was a good idea? Right. My mom's card was in there. It was probably useless anyway, like some coupon or ticket or whatever. But like anything related to my mom, it was important.

My mom left me, and unlike most kids, I didn't grow to hate her. I understood why she had to. She was famous, rich, and had a reputation to uphold. In her own way, she was protecting us too.
