Day 1: The Beginning

There is an A-list celebrity by the name of, "Skyler." At one time, he acted on the small screen before moving onto the silver screen. The actor moved back to the small screen for a binge worthy show about werewolves. Now he is, "in-between projects," as he tells his friends with no real direction. His condominium comprises the entire 37th floor. At this time he is sitting on the sectional in the lounge. The penthouse offers panoramic views. From these panoramic views one can see bustling Downtown Ashbury, the white sands of Windswept Beach, and the clear blue waters of The Atlantic Ocean. His home theater is turned to the weather channel. Footage of small towns just south of his hometown of Ashbury are experiencing Hurricane Hoit. A category three hurricane with a vengeful wrath.

He enjoys the footage so much he cannot stop the laughter that erupts from the center of his belly. To Skyler, there is no better pastime than watching the on scene reporters brave storm conditions for a news piece. Not to mention the maps of the Southern cost with swirling greens and ominous patches of red. He watches as people are faced with life or death decisions. For some it is too late, they are removed from their homes by the force of the storm. Some, with a little time left before the brunt of the storm rolls in, sandbag their properties. Others, ford through impassable rivers of flood waters.

This live coverage is impressively compiled with eye catching previously recorded footage. Footage of torrential rains, winds, and best of all, lightning. The hurricane fills the sky with violet and sapphire bolts. In short, Hurricane Hoit is a very dangerous hurricane. Skyler's eyes drink in the footage with delight. The irresistible footage is everything he could ask of his evening entertainment. The hurricane moves rapidly up on the meteorologists maps with a manic pace. Soon the hurricane will strike Skyler's hometown. It is after all, the city of Ashbury.

When the storm nears his 37th floor penthouse, Skyler watches the masses flee from the safety of his balcony. They row fishing boats as they pull in survivors desperate to get off their roofs. Skyler fixes a strong drink, brandy on the rocks. All the while he continues to enjoy the mayhem below. The entire lounge area is surrounded by tall thick glass windows. The kind of glass used in upscale skyscrapers. The glass will never break despite the wind.

The storm rages as Skyler enjoys his brandy. He is safe dry and warm as he remarks, "Look at America's working class. They could never stay afloat!" One can hear hearty laughter on the spacious 37th floor. But that is all for tonight. Skyler finishes the brandy and retires to his master bedroom. The lights shut off automatically in the lounge behind.
