Day 3: Shower Scene
It is time for breakfast. Skyler can hear the storm outside. The rains seem to have softened, but they persist. He groans when he realizes he has not bathed in four days. The smell that comes off his body is ripe. His beard has gone from a sexy unkempt look to scraggly. Skyler knows he needs a shower and a shave, but where will he get the water. Suddenly a thought occurs to him. There is water, but it is cold and a bit heavy to carry.
Skyler remembers his personal gym. There is a watercooler to the side with several gallon bottles of filtered water. The actor draws the green drapes along his bed aside. His blonde hair is matted and oily. This is the only option for large amounts of water. The master bathroom connected to the master bedroom has many showerheads, but like the kitchen, no running water. Skyler runs out of his bedroom. Through the lounge area in a flash. Down a couple stairs to the personal gym. His bare feet thud as they hit the linoleum tile. Skyler grabs a spare jug. He lugs it back with some effort back to the master bathroom.
Skyler strips off his designer jeans. Then his v-neck tee. The one that used to compliment his abs so well. Now the v-neck is wrinkly, slept in, and sweaty. Time to step in the shower. The chrome showerheads glisten as if taunting him. The gallon jug is uncapped. Skyler breathes in deeply, "One, Two, Three!" He pours the water over his head. He screams, "So cold! So freakin' cold!" There is plenty more water. The man soaps up his bearded face and then his armpits. Skyler screams bloody murder once again. "Okay two more times and I'm good." The desperate attempt at a shower continues and along with it screams echo off the bathroom tile. Screams worthy of a slasher movie.
After he bathes Skyler dries his dark blonde hair and body off with a plush towel. He leaves his face slightly damp. He wraps the white towel around his waist. Skyler opens a cabinet drawer and finds his electric razor. With the use of his thumb, the back attachment is engaged. Skyler sets down the razor and from the same drawer uses a tiny green bottle and slaps a palm's amount onto his face. The green liquid makes the hairs of his beard stand on end. With his right hand, Skyler turns on the electric razor and drags it across his face.
When he is finished he looks at his handy work. A sexy, unkempt, familiar look is back on his face. One fitting of a man who showers in such cold water. In a word, "rugged." He splashes name brand aftershave on his face. A cooling sensation follows. Along with a fragrant aroma. Skyler walks into his bedroom and opens the dresser. He grabs a fresh pair of boxers, along with jeans and a black tee. He uses the hair gel atop his dresser to give his hair an angular appearance.
Skyler checks his appearance briefly in the mirror. He pulls his smart phone out. The smart phone with no service, to snap a quick selfie. He remarks, "Now, at long last, time for some breakfast." Skyler walks into his stainless steel kitchen and opens the fridge. He pulls out some eggs and butter. Grabs a bowel from the cupboard and cracks the eggs. He whisks the eggs while he drinks from a bottle of mineral water. There is an array of pans that hang from the ceiling. He grabs his favorite and pours in the eggs.
In time, he will turn them. But for now, he remembers how hard he tried in the past to keep away any fans or tourists. How he would love to see one appear at the elevator doors that open into the lounge. He remembers the petition he signed to keep away any helicopter tours that could make noise at the roof of his penthouse. Especially during one of his all night parties. Skyler remember his personal trainer, Jim. Also, how persistent Jim was when he urged and insisted that Skyler eat healthier. To cut down on red meat, and enjoy some fresh produce and eggs. Be a little more vegetarian in his approach to a wholesome, hearty, meal.
The eggs have set. Skyler turns them over with the rubber spatula. He remembers how much red meat is in the fridge. The meat has probably spoiled by now. He will have to clean the fridge after breakfast. When his scrambled eggs are done he drops them onto a lunch plate and picks up a clean fork. It is probably a good time to wash the dishes that have been piling up on the counter. Skyler eats the eggs at the large dining room table. It has been awhile since the distinct rumble of thunder could be heard. Maybe it stopped sometime last night. Before Skyler drifted off to sleep. Skyler grabs a banana from the counter and a yogurt from the fridge. It is greek yogurt, high in protein. Skyler grabs a soup spoon from the drawer and closes it with a push from his hip. He takes the lunch plate and places it in the sink.
The banana is ripe and soft. The top twists off with a bit of effort. The bananas should keep for at least a few more days. The greek yogurt has not spoiled. When Skyler digs in with his soup spoon his taste buds come alive with the taste of fresh strawberries and cream. Soon, the soup spoon scrapes the bottom of the little plastic cup of yogurt. It is time to do the dishes. Skyler sets the stopper of the kitchen sink so the water will not drain. Next he hauls the gallon jug from the bathroom. He pours a little water in and mixes it with some dish soap.
After fifteen minutes or so, Skyler is done washing the dishes. He dries these and puts them away in the cupboard. The fridge is what is to come next. Skyler grabs a kitchen garbage from underneath the sink and begins to work. He pulls open the double doors and clears any sausages, leftovers, or anything that could have spoiled. He drops all of this into the kitchen garbage bag. Beneath the fridge is the freezer. Skyler makes short work of this. With all the red meat out of the freezer and into the garbage bag it is time to take out the garbage. He walks across the lounge to the tiny garbage chute with a metal door. The white plastic bag tumbles down the chute and out of the condo.
