Bokuto seemed a bit uneasy. He didn't want to ask Akaashi anything that protained to your home life. You lived that life. Not Akaashi. He wanted to hear what it was like straight from you. He reluctantly accepted the fact that you were still a merely stanger to him and had every right not to tell.
You felt empty inside. As if everything was flowing back to you and that you could drown in your own thoughts. The walk to Bokuto's house wasn't that long but, it was silent. Akaashi took the lead while you and Bokuto followed close behind.
"Bokuto-san, want me and Y/N to come with you to ask your parents?"
Bokuto seemed to pipe up slightly.
"Yeah, that'd be great!"
He started to smile again. The worry on his face disappeared as though it were never there before. He hopped in front of Akaashi to lead them the rest of the way. Akaashi moved to walk by you.
"It's not much farther. Are you doing ok?"
You nod, appreciating Akaashi's concern.
"Sorry just...him...again."
Akaashi held in a growl but his angered expression said otherwise. You notice and look at your feet. Your tennis shoes were worn out. Next to Akaashi's...they looked like trash. You had been wearing the same shoes for three years. You couldn't help but be disappointed in yourself. It wasn't your fault! You didn't have that many shoes anyways. You had some nice flats and a few dress shoes. The patter of you and Akaashi both walking in sync was somewhat calming.
"Where are you guys!? It's getting late!"
You heard Bokuto yelling from a little ways ahead. You felt yourself begin to smile. You let it happen. You weren't going to let that dirtbag ruin your day. You were already miserable enough.
"We're coming!"
You picked up your pace, leaving Akaashi in the dust as you started to sprint.
"Come on, Keiji! You're too slow!"
He took it as a challenge and smirked. He picked up a slight run and and smiled softly, seeing you were already starting to be happier.
Eventually you caught up with Bokuto but, he was already standing outside of his house with a beaming smile. He had a dufflebag.
"That was fast."
Keiji laughed smirking slightly. You giggled a bit, seeijg Keiji's smirk.
"Akaaaammmmsshhhiiiiiiii!!!! Mom said yes! Let's gooo!!!"
Bokuto practically jumped or flew off the porch. He ran past you and Akaashi, giving you a new breeze to counter the humid summer air. You hum in delight as you turn to Akaashi.
"I'm gonna stay behind. I'm sure he didn't even ask his mother. I'll tell her. Go catch up to him."
You looked at Akaashi, almost in fear.
"A..Akaashi..? Are...you sure..?"
Akaashi nodded.
"He'll get tired here soon. He'll wait up. Don't worry. Now, go on."
He shooed you away. You nodded and gave him a soft smile. You mouthed him a quick gesture as a thank you.
A bit of time passed and you finally caught up to Bokuto.
"Hey, Y/N!"
You waved and yawned. You were practically half asleep. The day had worn you out. All the different emotions and new people and WHEW! It was a lot. He smiled softly. He noticed you were out of energy. He calmed himself in order to keep you from getting irritated. He figured you were like Akaashi in ways. He's made the mistake of being too rowdy with a sleepy Akaashi. Bokuto will never make that mistake again. He's learned his lesson.
"Come on, I know the rest of the way. It's not far. Don't worry. "
You nodded and leaned into him as he wrapped his arm around you. Bokuto was actually really surprised that you let him hold you. He felt as though if he touched you, you'd break like glass. Especially since you showed your tail at your house. Almost crying and slamming the door. He held you close but not tight.
Only a few moments passed before you reached Akaashi's doorstep. You were fighting for your eyes to stay opened. Because it was late, Akaashi's parents had already gone to bed. They knew you were going to be late, thanks to Akaashi texting them ahead of time, beung the smart boy he is. The door was unlocked. Bokuto eased the door open quietly.
"Y/N..?"
You were putty in his hands. You had passed out leaned on his side. He smiled softly and picked you up. He took you to the couch and laid you down carefully. He nodded to himself as a 'good job!'.
"Man..hey..Where's...Snowy..?"
He noticed that your little Snowy Owl was missing from your arms. He quickly started to search for it. Not leaving far enough to where he couldn't see you.
He found it by the front porch well, Akaashi found it and brought it in. Bokuto found Akaashi.
"They..they were like...so...warm yet..terrifed. Are...are they okay..?"
He asked Akaashi as he held Snowy close.
"They...they've had it rough. It'll be okay. I'll tell you more in a bit."
Bokuto nods and brings the owl you. He moves a piece of hair out of your face and looks at Akaashi.
"I'm gonna sleep here."
"Here?"
"Yeah. Keep an eye on 'em. Ya'know?"
Akaashi nodded.
"No funny business, Bokuto-san."
"Yeah, yeah! Whatever!"
He took a seat beside you and curled up on the floor. Once he knew Akaashi was gone, he whispered.
"Don't worry...I'll protect you.."
