Chapter 5

I opened the door and stepped outside. it was still rain but at least it wasn't storming like before.

I had meant to go and find liam on my own but of course the girl was following me. i looked back to see her right behind me. i could only hear her very faint footsteps because she was quiet as always.

Walking down a path that i was now making,  i started thinking about how he would react to her and her him. I sure hope she doesn't hit him over the head with anything. If she did, i don't think he would ever talk to me again. I will only hope they would behave. For all of us.

We were walking for about twenty minutes before i heard him.

" Tristan!!" it came very faint at first but as we got closer it became more vibrant.

" Over here!' i yelled back standing still so that he could find me. I heard some rustling behind me and i turned to see what the girl was up to......

How??

She had gone up to the  nearest tree,-- which was straight as a post, with absolutely no branches whatsoever,-- and started climbing. Pulling herself up with her arms and holding on with her long, tan legs...

TRISTAN, GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE GUTTER!

Just as she reached the first branch, about 10 feet above me, she spun herself to face away from the tree and just balanced there, waiting. waiting for what, i didn't know, but i'm pretty sure i didn't want to know. I sure as hell hoped she didn't hit him like she did me.

" Hey! I thought for a second that i was going to get lost just like you!!!" Liam said, coming out of the bush a couple of yards away.

" told you i would be here."

" Man, you do realize that it's friday, right? You've missed almost three days of school."

" Yeah, well, if you haven't noticed, its been raining really hard and its been dark so i probably wouldn't have found my way back any time then." I said in a ' duh ' tone.

" Okay, you have a point. By the way, what's that, on your head?" He said, motioning to it.

I had forgotten about that." when i first found the cabin place, the girl kind of...hit me over the head.." i mumbled the last part due to embarrassment.

" What?" he said, a smirk growing on his face. Oh, he had heard me alright. he just wanted the satisfaction of hearing it again.

" I got hit over the head, okay?? Satisfied?" i was really getting annoyed with him.He let out a hoot of laughter.

Suddenly i heard movement from above us. i looked up to see the girl pull a knife from her pocket. She must have slipped it there just as we left. Liam followed my gaze just in time to see her jump from her perch in the tree.

I saw his eyes widen as they focused o her. He stumbled back a step before she landed on him. Now they were both wrestling on the ground which ended with Liam on his back and the girl straddling him. His arms were caught under her knees and as much as he struggled, he wouldn't get anywhere.

i took a quick step towards them and saw her raise her knife as if to stab him as he froze in shock. i rushed forward and grabbed hold of her hand. Her head snapped in my direction so fast, i was surprised she didn't get whiplash.

" Stop! Let go of the knife." i said firmly, trying to pry the object from her hand.

She glared at me, then, surprisingly, drooped it into me hand. I looked at her, shocked that she actually listened to me, then watched her with suspicion. That was to easy...

Yup. I was right. it was to easy. Next thing i know, she's bawling her hand into a fist, getting ready to hit him. Urg!!! what was with this girl and hitting people she doesn't know??!!

I quickly stepped forward and grabbed her hand once again.

" I said stop!" i stared at her until she finally turned to look at me once more. She had been glaring murderously at Liam but when she turned to me, her eyes softened.

" Uh...A little help here?" Liam said uncertainly from his position under her.

" Yeah" i mumbled before pulling her off him. She protested a bit but stood at my side killing Liam with her eyes. I still held her hand in mine in case she tried anything.

Liam got up and brushed off all the leaves and mud from his clothes.

" I'm guessing this is the girl?" He said, eyeing her.

" Yes. And as you can see, she's not use to other people."

" Has she said anything at all?"

" Nope, but she does seem to understand bits and parts of what we say."

" Wow. Okay. Did you get a name?"

" No but i did find a way to get it."

"Really? How?"

" She wants me--us--to guess it."

Right then it started to rain harder and i decided for all of us to go back to the cabin, since it was closer. I lead the way, leading the girl by the hand, who was walking backwards to not take her unwavering glare off of Liam, who was last in line.

We reached the cabin, all soaking wet. I closed the door behind me and looked at the girl. I still had her hand, so i went over to the pile of blankets and sat down, pulling her down with me. She came up close--closer than i thought she would ever be-- and held onto my arm. As i looked at her,I was so shocked, i almost forgot about Liam. Almost.

" Well don't you look cozy." He said taking a seat across from us, and pulling me out of my thoughts.

When he spoke, the girl seemed to growl a bit. Yes, you heard me right.

" So, Should we get on with guessing her name? Personally, i'm tired of calling her ' The girl ' or just ' girl '. " I said turning to face him.

" Ya. Good idea. though we better find it fast 'cause it's supposed to stop raining soon so you'll be able to go home."

" But..."

" But what?"

" We can't just leave her. I mean, i haven't seen any parents and this place is practically falling apart." 

" And where would we take her? She most likely wont come with me because if you haven't notice, she tried to kill me."

After a minute of contemplating, i came to my decision.

" She'll come with me." 

" Are you sure? What about your mom?"

" I am positive. And as you pointed out, she doesn't seem to trust anyone but me so far. I'll deal with my mom when we get home."

He didn't argue with me, seeing that i wouldn't budge on my answer.

" Okay then let get to guessing names..." He said, switching his gaze from me to her.

And let the name-athon begin!!!!!!
