"This will take a while to explain," I said.

"I understand. I think everyone sort of expected that. After all, you're missing one of your eyes and Mine just died before our very eyes. Yet, here she is." Najenda said.

All of us were standing around in the wooden cabin. Mine was standing right next to me, our shoulders touching a bit. Everyone else was standing just a bit further away from us.

"So, the short explanation is that I used the trump card of my Blade of Creation on Mine. But, there are a few other things to note. My Imperial Arms ended up breaking in the process, so I no longer have my Blades of Creation and Destruction. But, I can also use Mine's Imperial Arms now." I looked to my left and saw Mine standing there with Pumpkin safely stored away on her shoulders.

"Ok... So basically, we've lost more of our fighting power." Najenda said. "First, Bulat went out of commission and needs to rest for a few months. Then, Mine dies, gets resurrected, and you lose your weapon and your left eye."

"Yeah... maybe. But, I feel like there's more to it. I don't really understand, but I think there's more to it. Like, how she could teleport back to me." I said, recalling what had happened a few minutes before this. "It's a hunch, but I think that Mine didn' necessarily get weaker... Maybe there's something more to it."

"Something more to it? So you don't understand it yourself, then?" Najenda asked.

"Pretty much, yeah," I said.

Najenda sighed, "So, essentially, you two are going to have to experiment together then?"

"Something like that. But first, there's something else to take care of." I said.

I felt a tugging at my shoulder and turned to see Mine with a worried expression on her face. "Hey... (F/n). I feel weird right now."

"Can you describe how you feel? I have a hunch of what's going on, but I need to confirm it." I said.

"I-I dunno... It's like... I feel like I'm being followed." She said.

"Right, then we're feeling the same thing. Do you remember how Benjamin found us in that village in the middle of nowhere?" I asked.

"Oh, right. He said something like... he can feel where you are? Because your souls are linked or whatever?" Mine said, tilting her head.

"Yeah. I think that's what we're feeling now." I said. "I think Benjamin is approaching us."

"What?!? Esdeath too?" Leone shouted in a bit of worry.

"I dunno. I can only say for sure that Benjamin is approaching. I'm not sure who else is coming." I said.

"Hey, Najenda. This could be bad." Akame said, turning to Najenda.

"I'm aware...!" Najenda said, bitting her thumbnail a bit. "We might need to stay on the move."

"That won't do." I said. "Benjamin and I seem to have a constant idea of where we are. No matter how far we go, we'll both each know where to find one another. If we try to move as a big group, he'll probably be able to catch up to us. I think... we should prepare an ambush."

"I agree." Mine said. "We can have time to recuperate so we're ready to fight again."

"Are you sure? Do you think we can take on Esdeath?" Sheele asked.

"As long as I can kill Benjamin quick, it can be all of us against her. We'll be able to do it." I said.

"...Are you certain you can do it?" Najenda said.

"Yeah. I can kill Benjamin." I said. "I- no, we will kill him." I said, turning to Mine a bit. She nodded, silently showing her agreement with me. We were determined.

"Ok... We're placing all of our trust on you to kill him. But still... something about this situation feels off." Najenda said.

"Yeah. After General Budo's death, you'd think that they'd need to recuperate a bit. Or, that at least Esdeath would have to meet with the emporer." Akame said. "What do you think, Seryu?" Akame said, turning to the former soldier of the Empire.

"Huh?" She said, taken off guard at the sudden question aimed at her. "Oh, yes. If I were in her position, I would certainly have met with the Emporer first."

"...He's here." I said, cutting the discussions short. I could feel him approaching, like someone was watching me. It was like I could feel his breath down my back. I turned and started to run out of the cabin.

I turned towards the direction where I could sense him approaching. And out of the large clusters of trees in the forest, I saw him.

"Benjamin..." I said. "Where's Esdeath?"

"Not here." He said simply.

I tilted my head just bit towards him, "She's not with you? Why? You think you can take all of us on?"

"No. She was more concerned with reporting to the emporer. I snuck off while she was doing so. I've come here for something more important... to me, at least." He stepped forward and, with a ragged and exhausted look on his face, pointed at me.

"...Do you want to fight?" I asked.

He paused and took a deep breath in, "Yeah. Yeah, I do. I'm wondering why you're so much stronger than me. And... I'm wondering why I was born into this world."

"You weren't so much 'born' though, right?" I said. "You were created by my Imperial Arms."

"That's... just the problem. I'm struggling here. You're... me. I am you. And yet, you're better then me at everything I know how to do. You're stronger in battle, you're more analytical, and even though you lack the emotions that I have, you can easily learn them back. It's frustrating." Benjamin said.

"It's because I have more experience than you." I said.

"But even so, I was kicking your ass in our first encounter. Why... Why are you the stronger one now. It seriously pisses me off!" He said. "That's why... I want to finish this now, you an I. A fight to the death."

"I'd be happy to oblige." I said, confident in my ability to win. And yet, I said nothing about it. It wouldn't have been fair to him.

He grabbed his bow off of his back, but he had something else.

"Take this." He said, tossing me some sort of weapon. I grabbed it and quickly recognized it as a katana. "Your Imperial Arms broke, right? I don't want to win just because you don't have a proper weapon."

"...Right." I said, slowly drawing out the katana. It's handle and sheath were both white. I carefully placed the sheath on the ground, not wanting to get it dirty. "Let's do this. Our final battle."

As the sun started to set beyond the horizon, the two of us faced off against each other. Night Raid all stood by and watched from in the cabin. This was a fight that squarely belonged to the two of us. And it would certainly be our final fight.
