Mine and I had been walking for a good few minutes. We wore brown cloth cloaks over our heads to cover our faces. Both of us were on several wanted posters, but they hardly spread this far out of the empire.

As we arrived in the town that I was kidnapped in, I couldn't help but look around curiously. It all seemed so... distantly familiar to me. It was hard to stop myself from blankly staring at everything around me.

But, doing so would be rude to Mine, who came with me all this way. So, I turned to her. "This is, what, the third time we've gone out together?"

"Yes. And hopefully, we won't get interrupted this time." She said with a somewhat frustrated sigh.

"Yeah... Hey, why are you so concerned about going on this 'date'?" I asked, tilting my head.

Mine's shoulders rose a bit. She shuffled her feet under her slightly, trying to think of a response.

"...Sorry. I didn't mean to fluster you." I said.

This, in response, only made her more flustered. She looked up at me with an angry look on her face, "S-Shut up! I'm not flustered!" She crossed her arms and pouted a bit while turning away from me. "Let's just... get on with it. You said this town is familiar to you, right? Take me to a place with good desserts."

"Right. Sounds good." I said calmly. I started to walk forward into town.

I peeked around a corner into some alleyway shops. I looked up at a sign that said: "Desserts and sweets" in another language. I walked towards it with Mine following close behind. I opened the door to a small shop.

There were about four tables scattered around. At the end of it, there was a counter with an old woman standing behind it. She waved at us with a smile.

"Welcome in." She said. "Take a seat wherever, and I'll get you a menu."

I turned to Mine before going over to sit down at the nearest table. We were at the corner of the shop near the window. We were given a menu and both started to look over it.

It was all sweets; parfaits, ice cream, and sets of macaroons. I looked up at the cute pink-haired girl across from me.

"What are you getting?" I asked.

"Oh, me? I'm getting the strawberry parfait of course!" She said with a cheerful smile. "And you?"

"Hmm... I'll get some vanilla ice cream," I said.

Soon enough, our orders were taken. The old lady went to the back and started preparing our orders. We sat at the tables and patiently waited. I began to stare out of the window at the outside grouping of buildings.

Mine glanced over at me, casting her gaze my way. "So... How're you feeling?" She asked.

"Well... I'm feeling." I said bluntly. "For once."

"That's good." Mine cooed with a smile.

"And you? You know... since dying and all that." I asked.

"Mmm... it's weird. It's the same... mostly? But my body feels light in a way that I don't really like... It's like it's not really all there."

"I suppose that comes with the territory of being able to teleport back to me, and whatnot. It is strange now that you're, more or less, an Imperial Arms..."

"It... kind of is, huh?"

"...I'm sorry, Mine." I said. Mine's eyes widened as she looked over to me. "That day, I couldn't protect you. And because of it, you died..."

Mine loudly sighed out, "To be honest, (F/n), I really wish you'd stop saying that."

"I know... but I just feel-"

"I know how you feel." Mine said. She leaned over to me, scooting her chair over to my side of the table, "You feel sorry because I died. Even though we were facing off against what could generously be called the 2 strongest of the empire, and 1 of the strongest within it."

She continued, "I've told you time and time again, you're fine. Any one of us can die at any moment, and it's a blessing I'm still alive after that. My body is, functionally, the exact same, and the both of us are ok." She pushed her face up, close to mine, "It's ok. You did what you could, and we're both alive for it."

I stared down at her pink eyes. I felt something deep inside of me. It was a sort of... relief, maybe? But perhaps a bit of sorrow buried underneath it. Describing the feeling to myself was hard back then.

I let my thoughts and emotions wash over me for a second. Bit by bit, I was regaining my sense of humanity.

I took a deep breath, looking into her eyes again, "Thank you, Mine." I said. I couldn't think of anything else to reflect how I felt in that moment.

She smiled back up at me, something that made me blush a small bit, "That's better~"

She sat back down in her chair as the waiter came over with the things we ordered. "You know, you've become a lot more expressive since we first met."

"Oh, have I?" I asked, taking a scoop of ice cream and eating it. It was tasty, not too sweet.

"You have, and I like it better like this." She commented, eating the parfait in front of her.

"Is that so? Good then." I said. The both of us conversed together for a while now. My ice cream was mostly melted by the time I actually managed to finish it over the talking.

Mine leaned back, licking the cream from her parfait off of her lips, "Well that was quite nice!" She exclaimed, "This is a good cafe. We should come back here some time!"

I nodded, "Anytime. This was fun. I'm glad we finally got to actually hang out like this."

"Oh believe me, I am to. Plus, after how much we've been through, I think we've earned this!" Mine stood up and began to collect her things. Shortly after, we were off back to the cabin. With our cloaks on just in case, we walked back through the town together.

Our footsteps were the loudest things we could hear. With the recent happenings and fights in the town, the streets were quiet most of the day. That, combined with the fact that we had exhausted most of our conversation topics while eating made for a gentle stroll back home where we were both occupied with our own thoughts.

It was here that said thoughts began to become noisy. I thought back to everything that happened in the past month or two. I thought back to the day that I almost lost Mine and, without any hesitation, used my trump card to bring her back. Now I'm left with what could be called one Imperial Arms for two people. I'd have to think long and hard about how to use Pumpkin effectively... I guess I'll just have to train with Mine for a while which... sounds appealing to me.

As for Mine, her thoughts were occupied by me, mostly. And how could they not be? She was now, to a degree, physically dependent on me. Her body was different now; she was closer to that of a ghost than a real human being. But at the same time, maybe this wasn't so bad either...

It was with those thoughts occupying our minds that we made our way back to the cabin together. Our shoulders touched a few times along the way. For assassins like us who were constantly in the heat of things, this was a divine moment of peace.
