Chapter 35: Hanging Out (Part 1)

The next day, Yachi walked over to Tanaka’s class a few minutes before class started. She saw a few boys standing in front of the classroom entrance and didn’t want to push past them so instead she went up to them.

“Good morning, is Tanaka in class right now?” she asked, a bit shy.

“Tanaka? Yea he’s in class already. You want me to call him out here for you?” one of the boys said. 

“Yes please,” Yachi smiled. 

The boy nodded and walked into class.

“Hey Tanaka, there’s a cute girl out here looking for you!” he yelled. 

Yachi’s face turned red. I didn’t think he would call him like that!

Tanaka came out blushing a little bit. Is it a girl trying to confess to me? He looked down at an embarrassed Yachi.

“Oh Yachi, it’s you,” Tanaka smiled at her. “What is it?”

“Um, well…,” Yachi was  a bit nervous because the boys outside the classroom were watching them intently. Tanaka noticed and grabbed Yachi’s wrist.

“Come on, let’s talk over here,” he said, pulling her off to the side away from the boys. 

Yachi gave a sigh of relief before she started.

“Today, after school, I’m going out with Hinata, Yukio, and Yumeko. I want you to come too,” she said. 

“Yukio and Yumeko? Those are the two transfer kids, right?” Tanaka asked. Yachi nodded. 

“Um, I don’t really see why you want me to tag along,” Tanaka looked at her confused. 

“I want you to come because…..because we aren’t sure where to go and I thought you would know fun places to go to,” Yachi explained. 

“Well, I do know some pretty fun places. There's a new arcade that opened up near the school and they have laser tag! I’ve been wanting to go for a while now. There’s also that festival with fun rides. They have a roller coaster and a ferris wheel and- ” Tanaka said excitedly.

“Those do sound like fun. You should definitely come with us then,” Yachi interrupted before he went on. 

“Ok,” Tanaka said happily. 

“Meet us in front of the gate when school ends,” Yachi said. 

“Sure thing,” he nodded. 

Yachi left to class and Tanaka returned to his class.

“What did she want, Tanaka? Was it a confession?” the boys from his class asked, smirking. 

“No, she already has a boyfriend!” Tanaka said walking past them. 

Yachi went to sit down in class. Good thing I didn’t mention Kiyoko was coming. I think Tanaka would have definitely objected to coming...I sure hope Kiyoko will get a chance to confess today. 

“You look lost in thought,” Yukio said, getting super close to Yachi’s face. 

Yachi pulled back in her seat. 

“I was lost in thought,” Yachi said.

“Oh sorry, didn’t mean to make you lose your train of thought,” Yukio scooted back to his desk. 

After class ended, Yachi was packing up her things when Yukio came and stood next to her smiling down at her. 

Well, he seems excited, she finished packing up and stood up.
