Narrator's POV
"Shut up, it can smell fear."
"Yah knaow ih' cahn't. Maexicao, haelp me grahb ih'."
"Fuck that noise, I'd rather wrestle with a chupacabra."
"It's foine. Just daon't leh ih' boigh' ya."
"Son, " Britain eyed Australia, the rest of his body unmoving. His hands clutched his cane tightly, holding it close to his chest. "You better capture it before it breaks anything.""Daon't wohry pawp, I cahn hahndle thies." Australia slowly crept towards the dull blue bird. "It's nawt a cahssaowaray."
It was another relatively normal day for their family, this time Mexico replacing America in the family panic spot. Australia had brought home another bird that he knew wasn't too dangerous (though he had said that with a lot of considerably dangerous animals before). South Africa had came to him for help when he was brought the injured bird. He figured he could help it until it was healthy enough to be released. Unfortunately, for everyone else besides the Aussie who rather enjoyed the chase, it got loose.
"Please be careful," Canada warned, flinching as if he was the one approaching the large bird. No one knew what it would do, it was an injured and possibly scared bird. If it weren't for it's injured wing, it could have made an aerial attack.
That's what they all thought at least.
Australia knew better. It was a Shoebill, not necessarily the most dangerous bird he's encountered, but definitely not the most appealing. He didn't care, but the others saw it and immediately thought that it was dangerous. But with previous events mirroring this one, no one can blame them.Any scared animal could be dangerous, actually. This one seemed to be okay, if not a little spooked. It zipped around the house, scaring everybody, probably looking for a safe spot to hide.
"It's okai guhl, " Aussie slowly stepped towards it, his hands stretched outward. He spoke quietly, calmly, and tried to use his special charm with animals that always seemed to calm them down. "I'm nawt gawnna huht ya."
The shoebill clattered its beak, the repetitive sound mimicking machine gunfire. It didn't do anything but stand in place and watch Australia carefully. The goal was to pick her up and carry her back to his own clinic, which was a room that Britain had given him temporarily for the purpose of taking care of animals. If nothing got broken along the way, that would be an added bonus.
"I'M HOME!"
The bird jumped, including everyone else, and it quickly scurried away, running out of the living room. The bird hit the decorative stand and Australia noticed the expensive vase that was about to fall and caught it before it could.
"Dahmn it, Ame, " Aussie groaned and ran after the bird.
Before anyone else could do anything, they heard a surprised America exclaim, "the fuck is that? Oh GOD!"
The bird jumped onto America, its claws digging into Ame's jacket and he fell down in fright. It stood on him and clicked his beak before screaming in his face. America screamed in return.
"Gotcha!" Australia grabbed the bird and pried it off of America, trying to be careful of its wing.
"That's the third time this month I was attacked by one of your pets, you kangaroo fucker." America complained, the insult one of many he has used for Australia.
"Oh shuh' up yah shawtgun roidah,” Aussie laughed and helped America onto his feet, reusing one of his own brotherly insults. “You knaow thies is moy whay of sayin' I love ya.”
