Chapter Thirteen - Birthday

Payton's POV

Her crystal eyes showed fear and neglection. She begged and pleaded the knight to releases her but he  just tightened his grip. She cried into her dirty hands as he continued down the dirt road walking out of sight...

I awoke from the irrational dream. I felt a little dizzy and fell back on my pillow. Mother walked into the room and yelled,"Get up Payton, it's not time for you to lay around all day!"

I pulled the pillow over my ear and whined,"I don't wanna get up."

"Payton!" I heard a toddlers voice cry. I pulled my legs into my chest. The next thing I knew my little brother, Zach, crawl onto my baby pink bed and jump up and down singing,"Payton! Get up Payton! "

I moaned then turned onto my back."Why do you have to be so convincing Mr. Zachary Roberts?!" I teased. He grinned then said,"Because I love my sister!"

I laughed then sat up and tickled him in the stomach, He giggled and even snorted a couple times before I stop and dragged myself into the bathroom. I looked at myself in the mirror. My eyes were shaggy and I looked like I haven't slept in a week. 

The truth is I had cried myself to sleep last night. And I guess you know why. Yeah, Yeah It was because of Justin. I didn't really know how much I liked him until he left. But the truth is I don't think I can live without him...

I brushed my hair after I got out of the shower and squeezed myself into my grey skinny jeans. Then I put on my uggs and ran down stairs. 

"Payton!!!" Little Noah sprinted across the living room floor and surrounded me with cheerfulness."Happy Birthday Payton!" 

I smirked then said,"Thank you Noah!" I tickled him before letting him run into the kitchen.

"Mom, what's for-"

"SURPRISE!!!!!!" I hear a corus of people cheer. 

Everybody was here my Aunt Madaline from Uncle Joe, and my friends were here. But no Justin...

"Happy Birthday Payton!" My mom hugged me and handed me a bright blue box. I eyed my mother suspiciously then opened it. It was a letter from Justin. I squealed in excitement, and my mother smiled,"He wanted me to give this to you on your special day," she remarked.

The letter said:

Dear Payton,

What up? Long time no see! Sorry I didn't tell you much about me moving, my mom just wanted to move so quickly I couldn't tell you. I just want to wish you a Happy 17th Birthday and hope for more to come! Just don't forget about me okay? And I want to be able to talk to you soon cause we a lot of catching up to do! Hey, and are you still into dancing? I hope so because next time I see you I want you to show me your awesome dance moves! But i'm afraid I have given up dancing... Yeah, yeah I know not a good move, right? But I just know I won't feel the same way dancing since grandpa died. It just doesn't feel the same. Well I hope I haven't saddened you by all this dieing stuff, Just go off and have a great birthday!

 I almost teared up by the saddening news then hugged my mom. "Payton!!!!" Lily ran over and gave me  a big bear hug.

"Um Hi," I said.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" she cheered.

"Thanks."

She eyed my suspisiously the asked,"What's wrong?"

I wiped my tears away,"Nothing. I'm just tired."

"Are you sure? You look like your might cry! I mean its your birthday!" she said.

I smiled slightly. "Now come on let's go open presents!" she cheered again then dragged me into the living room. I laughed and for once enjoyed myself since Justin left. And guess what? It actually felt nice...

Unknown POV

I walked up to the beige colored house. I walked up to the door and rang the doorbell and next thing I new I was staring into the eyes of the girl of my dreams...
