sakura glanced around her once bright and colorful hospital room. today, the seventh of march, she'd been discharged from the hospital.
it had been a very long six months.
a small smile bloomed on her lips as she skipped out of room 340, towards the stairs. tomorrow, she'd be settling into a new school, where she'd be staying for the rest of her senior year.
she pulled out her phone ; five o'clock on the dot. her father should be here. if she was lucky, he'd be waiting in front of the main doors. the storm outside looked much too severe for her to walk outside without an umbrella, anyway.
lost in thought, the pinkette almost forgot to say goodbye to the woman at the front desk. shizune, was her name ; she'd spent countless hours teaching sakura the basics of medicine throughout her time at the hospital. she was definitely sakura's favorite secretary, by far.
a small, tired smile took over the woman's expression once she saw sakura, her fingers pausing above an old keyboard.
"sakura, ready to go?"
the pinkette nodded, bowing her head once the department's head, tsunade senju, passed by. she quickly ran out, throwing a wave behind her just before she slipped out the door.
taking a breath of the fresh air, sakura smiled. there was a slight drizzle of rain. her eyes fell shut as each droplet fell onto her pale skin. moments passed, then a car pulled up, snapping her out of such a daze.
"sakura!", her father shouts happily as he gets out of the car. the man with a head of bright pink hair wears a huge smile on his face, waving towards his daughter. "dad!" she smiled, watching as her father, ever the gentleman, opened the passenger door for her.
sakura laughed as she got in, setting her bag in the back seat. her father shut the door and walked over to the other side, shifting to drive before pulling out. excited chatter erases the silence, and sakura can't help but smile. she can't wait to get home.
her father interrupts her thoughts, and looks over to her once they reach a red light.
"hey, kiddo?"
"yes, dad?" sakura responded, looking over at her father.
"I know you don't want to go to this school, but we want the bes-" oh, here he goes again, she thinks, cutting him off with yet another laugh. worried as always, that was her father. "i get it. don't worry, okay?" she paused upon seeing his dejected expression.
"i promise."
truthfully, he placed his concern in the right place. sakura actually didn't want to attend this school, but her parents wouldn't have signed her up if it wasn't for her own good. her father smiled, and glanced back at the now-green traffic light.
"a promise is a promise, my dear."
and, not much long after, they reach her street. their home.
the pinkette practically jumps out of the car, slamming the door behind her. glancing over, her father snatches her bag from her hands before gesturing at the door; "your mother is home.", is all he says, before reaching into the backseat.
she smiled. "thanks, dad!", she calls back, before rushing to the front door. before she can even think to unlock it, it opens, and her mother, who is a middle-aged woman with short blonde hair, stands on the other side.
"sakura!" The older woman smiles, opening her arms for the pinkette. she's enveloped in one of the tightest hugs she's ever received, and sakura nuzzles into it with fervor. "i missed you so much."
