"Ella, slow down!"
"Hurry up Papi! I want to see the stars!'
"I want to see them too, but I also got Celestia here! Hang on! Esperate!"
As the young Ella was rushing from the crusty old boardwalk to the beach in their small town, the young girl was relishing the beautiful and vast beach in her eyes. Her father, Mario, was trailing behind his energetic daughter, carrying a four-year-old girl who did not look too happy about going to the beach, a pout stuck on her face as she rests her head on her father's shoulder. The oldest daughter, however, was excited as she got to the beach. With her long dark brown hair dancing in waves in the sea breeze, young Ella headed towards the blue water just wanting to jump in. The young Latina girl just was smiley as she held her arms up content with the sea breeze. Taking off her cheap hot pink sandals from Dollar Tree off her small delicate feet, she tossed them aside like they were trash and just ran to the water, stopping to wait for her father.
Her father was setting up a blanket for the younger sister to stay in while he goes play with his older daughter. Placing the young Celestia down, the older man ran up to the sea to play with his other daughter. Moving down the dark brown wet sand, she soon took his father's hand. Placing their feet in the water, the two began to walk out to the sea, to feel the colder water embrace their feet. Ella did not hesitate to start splashing her father with the salty water under the rosy pink sunset.
As the sky grew darker and the stars began popping out. Mario brought his daughter on land. Sitting on the blanket, with Celestia crawling into the older man's lap, Ella was looking up at the sky anticipating. Laughing at his daughter, Mario strokes her hair asking,
"Are the stars that fun to see?"
Ella was nodding excitedly, squealing, "Yes! All stars are pretty and together they make a cute picture. Like that one!"
Pointing up to a cluster of stars, Ella yelled out, "It's a bunny with a carrot up his nose!"
"Really?" Her father teased, "it looks more like Celestia picking her nose."
"Papi, are you calling Celeste, a bunny?"
"Maybe. Maybe not."
Giggling at her father, Ella looks up at the sky, saying in a pondering manner, "Papi, I wonder, do the stars know who we are?"
"No Mija, that's crazy talk, but spirits can."
"Spirits like ghosts?"
"More or less. Each spirit has capabilities that each of us is unaware of. Each had a path, and once they leave the Earth, they are free to carve their path."
"Whoa that is so cool, but it also sounds like baloney," Ella said bluntly.
Mario grew mischievous, saying, "Oh? How so?"
"I don't know, but Mami dice that spirits is not something to mess with at all. She said it's the work of El Diablo if you mess with them. Mami is right about a lot of these things"
Mario hesitated for a moment, unsure how to next address his daughter because she was naive and little. Seeing no harm in showing a bright and colorful side to the world. The young dad stood up, smiled at his daughter, and said, "Want to see something cool?"
"Does it involve El Diablo?"
"Sweetie, not all spirits belongs to demons, a lot is good, a lot are misled, and a lot are filled with regrets deep in their heart."
Waiting for a second to take it all in Ella asked again with a look of innocence in her big brown eyes,
"Does it involve El Diablo?"
Laughing at her attitude, Mario soon messed up her hair and said affectionately, "Just hold onto me cariño, and don't worry. Just look."
As the taller male picked up his two daughters, one asleep, and the other looking at her dad, curious about what he is about to do. As the strong olive-skinned male opened both hands in front of the sea, the man soon whistled into the sea and said,
"είμαι ο γιος της Γαίας,"
The sea was still for a moment, Ella frowned and said,
"Did you mess with El Diablo?"
"Nooooo. I listen to Mami, just watch. Ask less."
As the young Ella was about to ask her dad something else, suddenly her eyes became fixated on the sight. The tall, young dad smiled as the sea began emitting a turquoise light into little droplets towards the moon, as it did, Ella stood in awe, along with nearby spectators each taken in by the incredible sight. With each light flittering up into the sky, each fleck danced their own dance up to meet the moon. As Ella looked up in wonder, in a daze, her father smiled unaware of what Ella was hearing.
With the light floating up in the sky a beautiful tune was played, it was ethereal made from voices from all spirits each of them singing out,
"With every life taken the cries to grow more, but the magic of Gaia will quench our souls.
With every dream squashed, our paths open up so each of us can be reborn,
Come sweet child hear our song, remember the pain we bore.
Remember our names as we pass on
Smile sweetly and remember the joy
because life is always short."As several spirits popped up each waving to Ella, she waved at each of them only to soon rub her eyes yawning, seeing the lights die down from the sky, Ella rested her head on her father's shoulder, her father smiling down at his two girls and whispered, "I hope this place can stay for you guys to watch the night sky like this forever. Beautiful."
As Ella's eyes fluttered shut, she soon fell into a deep slumber unaware of what just happened was dream or reality.
